The dinner entrees were very good. Chicken piccata tender and seafood pasta plentiful. We ordered tirimisu for dessert and that was a mistake. Took 20 minutes or more as they had to make it. Not up to their usual standard. Dry and bready.

This used to be one of our favorite restaurants and we have been coming here since it opened many years ago. We took a breather due to a very bad night for this restaurant (no menus available, out of Lasagna at 6:30 pm, a waitress that was untrained, did not get the table we asked for two weeks in advance,etc) when we were entertaining out-of-town guests but thought we would give it another chance. We were entertaining guests again and they seemed happy with their meals which were both specials of the evening. I ordered Lasagna (my all time favorite at this restaurant in the past) but it was tough and tasted as though it had been frozen and then microwaved. It was also a much smaller portion than in the past. The Caeser salad, ordered by all at the table, was chilled but had almost no dressing and croutons that were certainly not fresh. We asked the waitress to bring additional dressing but it never came and we asked another waitress or bus person again for more dressing and it finally arrived. In defense of the waitress, she tried her best to be attentive but it appeared that the restaurant was short staffed and she was waiting on many tables. Since this is the second time we have been disappointed with this establishment, we will not be returning.

Osteria has a very long history as a great local restaurant with reasonable prices and excellent food. Our last couple of visits have been surprisingly expensive and places this establishment in a category that's not feasible for frequent visits.

We had only been in Santa Fe for a few months, and we had not had a chance to try the Osteria d'Assisi. The chance arose when friends from the Midwest visited Santa Fe recently, and their hotel was only a couple of blocks from the restaurant. The service was impeccable from beginning to end. The server was enthusiastic and quite authentically Italian. The atmosphere was perfect. The ambient music was soft, and enabled us to have a great conversation. To top it off, the prices were very affordable. Can't wait to get back to Osteria!
