I have been coming here for years. The food is mixed. Some dishes are great, others like the Diver Scallops, just plain suck. The center cut filet is generally very good as is the she-crab soup. Unfortunately, their service is also variable. During my last visit the server was non-existent. We were served our meals by the server assistant who luckily noticed we didn't have silverware. The server never checked on us to ask if our meals were okay or to reorder drinks. One of our glasses had a big chip in the rim. Sorry, there are way too many other great places in Charleston to dine, so I would not recommend Peninsula Grill. Also, the coconut cake is over hyped. To me it tastes like the Pepperidge Farm frozen version.

The food was a WHOLE experience! Everything was prepared perfectly….the staff was extremely attentive and helpful. My only regret…I was so full that I didn’t get to try the Coconut cake!! I highly recommend you dine here when you come to Charleston. Thank you and see you again soon!

We have lived in Charleston for 2 years and my daughter 15 years. This was the first time for any is to dine here. After trying many other restaurants in Charleston , we were sadly disappointed. The scallops were the best! The sauce and presentation delicious. The beef filets were nothing exceptional. I had the swordfish and it was dry and tasteless. In comparison to other high end restaurants in Charleston . I would put this on the bottom of our list especially with what we paid. The only reason I would go there would be to buy a piece of their coconut cake which is exceptional. And you can get that on take out. It has a quintessential Charleston feel which would probably be the draw for an out of town customer. But the food just was a disappointment!

Wonderful evening for our anniversary. The service was impeccable. The she-crab soup, and scallops and grouper entrees were creative and delicious.

Great dining experience in a very elegant setting, without feeling stuffy. Peerless service. The grouper (on a bed of succotash) was a touch dry, but the overall dish was creative and tasty. The she crab soup was superb. We will return.

Visited here years ago and remember it being great. We frequently get the famous coconut cake from their cafe next door. Unfortunately the food was just ok, steak was good but for the price there are much better options such as Halls, Oak, etc which are much better. Sides were just ok, Brussels were subpar and mashed potatoes were good but nothing special. Again if you’re in town would recommend somewhere else for dinner but stop in for the coconut cake which is exceptional.
