- GGeo and PatGreater Boston •12 reviews5.0Dined on 28 Feb 2025This restaurant is approximately 100 miles from our house; it IS worth the drive! What makes it so good? Let me count the assets! The first thing to enjoy is the ambiance. Granted that we may have dined in more elegant or sophisticated restaurants, but none of them are in New England. The decor is subtle and relaxing, and the views of the expanse of water outside the huge windows provide the suggestion of seafood for your dinner. Next is the service. The only place at which I have been equally attended was a restaurant in Washington D.C. - and it no longer exists. In particular, please allow me to commend Andre, a fine gentleman whose attentiveness especially pleased my lady companions. And the food! From the outstanding oysters to the perfectly prepared popovers and superior swordfish surpassed by only my wife's (and she has a secret technique), taste and portions and presentation will tempt you to make your next reservation before you leave the building. Do I have any complaints? Only one: I believe that the previous name - Hawthorne by the Sea - is a bit more seductive and romantic than the current appellation...but I did not buy the business, so naming it is not one of my prerogatives! Visit Anthony's Pier 4 Cafe (see - it does not do justice to the fine restaurant!) and please all of your senses!More infoAnthony's Pier 4 CafePrice: Expensive• Seafood• Swampscott•4.6
