It is a place where generation after generation of families has come to meet friends and family. It is a place where newcomers to the valley soon become old friends. The Brass Door, formerly known as the 8/5 Club, was established by Howard Schlesinger in 1946. It was originally a six-stool bar and 20-person dining facility. Schlesinger's son, Mickey, and his partner Dick Basso bought the club in 1955. Soon after, they renamed the club The Brass Door. The appetizers: calamari , bruschetta were very good. The salads were very good and well. The entrees were mixed with the salmon being very good as well as the eggplant Parmesan. The petrale was fair to good. The best part of the evening was our waiter James. He was great in every aspect and is the best waiter I have encountered in a very long time. I eat out regularly and James was excellent. I hope his employer realizes what a great server he has.

Had a chicken sandwich that came with nothing for $17, if you wanted fries or a side salad it was an additional charge. Had avocado toast you got two small pieces of toast for $15. It was beautiful and tasty. Just way overpriced.

If you’re ever in Danville, Bridges Restaurant is a must-visit spot that perfectly balances exceptional food, expertly crafted drinks, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. It’s our go-to place for a reason, and every visit reminds us why it’s such a beloved institution in this charming town. For starters, Bridges isn’t just about the culinary experience—it’s a part of cinematic history! Fans of Mrs. Doubtfire will recognize it as the setting of the iconic “run-by fruiting” scene. The ambiance alone is worth the visit, blending timeless elegance with a cozy vibe. On this visit, we brought friends from out of town, and as always, Bridges delivered. The menu is thoughtfully curated with dishes that cater to every palate. Whether you’re indulging in their beautifully plated entrees or sipping on a perfectly balanced cocktail, you can taste the attention to detail in every bite and sip. The service? Impeccable. The staff are knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely passionate about ensuring every guest has a memorable experience. Bridges is more than just a restaurant; it’s a Danville institution that captures the spirit of the community. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this is a dining experience you don’t want to miss.
