Best Contemporary American Restaurants in West Sayville

Jst a fantastic evening. We had not been in so long. You easily fall into trap of thinking such places are indeed tourist traps. But this is the real deal: lovely decor, excellent food (and sizable portions), and attentive staff. And post dinner some wonderful jazz in the bar area. Cannot think of a better way to spend an anniversary in our own city!

Our server, Maya, was personable and diligent. The fare was delicious, and the bill was, as expected, steep. A very New York experience.

Lake House has been a stand out restaurant in Bay Shore for years. After they moved closer to the Fire Island Ferry dock and built their new location I was afraid that size might negatively impact the overall fantastic experience that has always been Lake House's standard. No chance! It's still one of the top restaurants on Long Island and the service, food and ambiance remains excellent. Consistency in the restaurant business is always the most difficult achievement and Lake House meets that bar with flying colors. Thanks to them for a terrific meal on Saturday night!

A pleasant experience from beginning to end. Entering the State Room began with a speakeasy vibe which was amazing. It was beautifully decoded and the food and drinks were delicious. What really stood out was service. Service was executed as if it’s fine dining but with a level of casualness which we loved. Server was very knowledgeable and truly showed a passion for the restaurant. I asked a question about the drink garnish which he answered but even another server on the side chimed in. Passion cannot be trained and the servers here definitely have it. Will be back for sure!!

The view, as promised, is beautiful. Food is excellent. I had the calamari appetizer, which was just the right level of spicy, and the shrimp Cobb salad, with a fabulous chocolate martini for dessert. Our waitress was affable and efficient.
