In the heart of Houston’s Montrose neighborhood, MARCH Restaurant is an intimate Mediterranean restaurant from Chef Felipe Riccio. Serving both 6 and 9 course tasting menus, we study the gastronomy, history, and cultures of the region to answer the question:“What is Mediterranean cuisine?”After many years of personal and professional exploration of the Mediterranean – including extended stints at three-Michelin-starred Osteria Francescana and Azurmendi –Felipe has brought this spirit of exploration back to his home in Houston. The word ‘MARCH’ signifies an area of land on the border between two territories; a frontier between realms. The menu is the team’s love letter to the Mediterranean where we will explore the unique, layered evolution of its many connected cuisines, with beverage pairings/selections artfully curated by partner and Master Sommelier, June Rodil, and the acclaimed beverage team.

Usually one and done but can’t wait to go back! The food, service and atmosphere was excellent. Compliments to the chef! The menu selection was diverse, from the appetizers to the desserts I was blown away by the execution of each plate. Had the deviled crab, crab fingers, oysters, crab fried rice, gulf snapper, pork schnitzel, and dessert! I definitely recommend for any type of event. The chef took the time to make sure everything was up to standards. Hats off to him and his staff. Wonderful experience.

Menu is well curated and highlights a region in the Mediterranean and each dish has a story. The food is impeccable. The evening starts in the lounge with a welcome snack. The dining area is smallish with open view of the kitchen Overall very worth it. Well deserved star. Will return again.

We were celebrating three best friends birthdays!! Our waiter immediately brought each of us a complementary glass of champagne. That was a nice touch to start our evening! We were not rushed, which I appreciated. The only negative was!You have to order everything at once but our waiter Charles was wonderful and worked with us. It’s definitely a fun people watching place. The food and cocktails were fabulous. I had an old fashion cocktail. It was very good. We had lobster escargot! Yum!! Spicy cauliflower was a hit! Steak tar tar and an artichoke appetizer. Also we had a spicy Caesar salad, which I would have again if you go don’t miss out on the lobster escargot or the cauliflower. I would go again.

We had not been back to Red Ash since before the Pandemic. Shame on us! Now we certainly will make a new reservation as soon as possible, which will probably be a few months from now. Red Ash is so popular that it is that difficult to get a table. But the wait is certainly worth it. This evening we tried the Octopus a la Plancha at our server, Emma's suggestion. Octopus for our first time. It was wonderfully delicious and tender. For dinner we split Frutti di Mare, a wonderful selection of seafood laid on a bed of the best black and white sphagettini. Cooked perfectly! Emma was the perfect hostess and we were able to reconnect with Brand Favata, our favorite server from six years ago. It seems that very few few employees leave Red Ash. It is such a wonderful restaurant!! We'll be back very soon.
