Best Hot Spot Restaurants in Lewes

Very nice evening at Essence the staff were very lovely, the setting was beautiful, we had the tasting menu the food was very good, the only area we felt was a shame was the base layer in the sauces with each meal was the same notes in spice etc it would have been nice to have had different tastes throughout the menu but was still very good. Absolutely brilliant pizzas - mine was the white pizza with burrata and parma ham, my son had the daily special, a sort of spicy arrabiata with nduja. They offer 500cl carafes of wine, perfect for an early lunch. Do try the starters too - my nduja lasagne fritta were amazing. Very cheerful service, and prompt for a busy Saturday - but then we did book for 12 noon! By the time we left at 1, the was a queue of eight or so parties outside. We were very grateful to the table next to us for making sure we went to the football stadium by a sensible route and didn't try to walk!

Service and portion sizes have improves since opening, lovely new menu. Slightly pricey but great food and location, you get what you pay for.

So delicious and innovative throughout. The steak was cooked to absolute perfection (Ribeye which I highly recommend), the sides were creative and tasty and the waiting staff were incredible and attentive. Extra thanks to Archie for cooking the amazing food and keeping us entertained at the bar whilst we ate. Definitely returning again… and again… and again.
