Fergus Henderson’s original home of “Nose to Tail Eating” opened in a former smokehouse around the corner from Smithfield Market in 1994.Celebrating the finest of indigenous British produce and making the most of what is seasonally best whilst applying straight forward cooking techniques, St. John is now celebrated as one of the 50 Best Restaurants in the World and in 2009 was awarded its first Michelin Star.Nose to tail eating means that, where appropriate, every part of the animal should be put to good use in the kitchen and so along with Roast Beef and Lemon Sole, diners will find Rolled Pig’s Spleen, Kidneys and Ox Heart, Liver and Chitterlings as well as the Roast Bone Marrow & Parsley Salad, something of a ‘signature’ dish.

Blacklock is a modern version of the Great British chophouse. Set in an old electricity substation on the site of London"s oldest meat market. We take the best meat in the country from the award-winning farmer and butcher Philip Warren in Cornwall. We cook chops simply over our real charcoal grill with a little help from vintage Blacklock irons and serve it all up alongside cocktails that give back and wine on tap in our atmospheric subterranean chop mecca.     Excellent!! The atmosphere was cozy, lively and friendly. The Sunday Roast was delicious; they had a sirloin roast special the night we went which was spectacular. The most compelling part of the evening though was the service…EXCEPTIONAL! From the host to the bartender to the waiter- totally committed to ensuring a wonderful customer experience. We live in the USA but will be back at our next visit!!!

    Restaurant is absolutely amazing. Staff are all lovely and the food is sensational. Couldn’t have asked for anything to be better. The price is definitely worth it for the experience received. My water was always filled and there was always something offered to me e.g. bread or another drink, etc. One of my favourite restaurants and will definitely be going back.

    Start to our Christmas celebrations, four best friends together we had fun, laughter and joy being together! This place is absolutely amazing and the icing on the cake as they say was the saxophone player, such beautiful music, the dancer was so talented and lastly the drum player he was so good and made sure her walked round near all the diners and was so friendly:) All your staff are very professional, friendly and helpful! Thank you we will be back in the new year.

    Outstanding food, service, ambiance. Classic British food, nose to tail, simply but exquisitely prepared. We started with olives and roasted bone marrow, a favourite we order whenever possible, and this was the best we’ve ever had. Accompanying parsley salad was flavourful crunchy and fresh, perfect accompaniment along sourdough toast. For mains we shared grey mullet, grilled shorthorn, white asparagus, green salad and a sublime braised mutton. Everything was superb and we were quite full but couldn’t resist dessert. Both the lemon posset and date loaf with butterscotch sauce were incredible and we ate every last bit. Service was low key excellent and very helpful as we ordered wine by the glass having over imbibed over the weekend and server recommendations were perfect.
