3 Shrimps, 3 scallops, no sides to come with it $41. Ridiculously overpriced for this dish. No red onions on the salad bar??

Where do I even start? Last night at Pomona Valley Mining Co. was hands-down one of the most unforgettable dining experiences I’ve ever had, and it’s all thanks to our incredible host and the team who turned a brilliant prank into a night of pure joy. If you’re looking for amazing food, stellar service, and a dash of unexpected fun, this place is a must-visit. I’d coordinated with the host ahead of time to slip in a custom FINRA-themed menu—think “Regulatory Prime Rib” and “Compliance Coconut Shrimp”—as a playful surprise for my finance-obsessed friends. From the moment we walked in, the host was on top of everything. They’d seamlessly swapped out the regular menus with my goofy creation, and the execution was flawless. The look on my friends’ faces when they saw “Broker BBQ Ribs” and “Margin Mud Pie” was priceless—confusion turned to laughter in seconds. The host didn’t just pull it off; they kept the charade going all night, winking at me across the room and rolling with every “What’s a Fiduciary Cheese Bread?” question like a pro. It was masterful. But let’s talk about the food, because even behind the silly names, this place delivers. The “Regulatory Prime Rib” (aka their slow-roasted prime rib) was melt-in-your-mouth perfection—juicy, tender, and paired with a creamy horseradish that had just the right kick. The “Audited Coconut Beer Shrimp” was crispy, succulent, and came with a sweet orange marmalade dip that I’m still dreaming about. And don’t get me started on the “Oversight Scallops”—those plump, garlicky morsels in that creamy scampi sauce were a revelation. Every dish was top-notch, and the included soup & salad bar (with that famous cheese bread!) was a delightful bonus. My “New York Compliance Cheesecake” to cap it off? Silky, rich, and the perfect ending. The ambiance here is spot-on too—rustic mining vibes with a warm, cozy feel that makes you want to linger. But the real MVP was our host. They didn’t just coordinate my ridiculous menu swap; they

We went for the buffet brunch and the food was great and the ambiance was great. The only thing that was bothersome was our server. We ask her for napkins because the crab legs were messy. Took her a very long time to bring us napkins and when she did they were just cocktail napkins. Like what are those gonna do when your hands, safe and table have crab all over? Also it took her a while to get to us when we first were seated. It was mint busy because we got there when they first opened. Other than that everything was great.

We had reservations for 7pm and had to wait about 5-10minutes. Not bad. I got a specialty cocktail that was delicious. My partner received a Pepsi. I requested waters for the both of us at the time of order. Someone else brought a Pepsi about 5minutes later until our waitress brought the waters over and another person bringing my cocktail. The waitress wasn’t very helpful or attentive. I ordered steak and lobster and we got an appetizer. For $200 you would think the service would be a little attentive. Appetizer arrived, spinach and artichoke dip, not by our server. She never checked if it was good or to our liking. By this time all drinks on the table were empty. The waitress would stop at one table at a time, never glanced over or looked at our table to see if we needed anything. I finally was able to get her attention 20minutes after she had dropped off the waters. Entrees arrived, our waitress didn’t bring them. She did not check on us once, if the steak was cooked properly, if everything tasted well or we needed refills. Completely absent. At that time we just wanted to leave. No dessert offered until she asked if we wanted anything else. The food was delicious. But the service made us not want to come back. Disappointed.
