Aboyer (ab-wah-yay), meaning, “to bark,” is a French-American brasserie as imagined by Chef Michael Lachowicz. An American-French restaurant pushing the boundaries of classic cuisine. Pulling from influences all over the world, Aboyer reconfigures classic dishes, but is still firmly planted in classic method and technique, never forgetting where we came from.

Reservations are recommended; walk-ins are welcome. Aboyer requires a credit card to secure all reservations. Please note that reservations cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled booking will incur a $25 per guest cancellation fee & no-shows will be billed at a rate of $50 per guest.

Special Valentine’s Day pop up of George Trois. Meal was extraordinary. Ambiance was refined, each of the 6 courses would be the highlight of almost any meal. Service was friendly and efficient. Chef Michael shows that he still stands with the best chef’s in Chicago

The restaurant was overbooked and overflowing with customers. We had a 7:15 and arrived 5 minutes early to be told that they were running 30 minutes behind and it would be best to wait in the car. Once seated an hour late, the service was slow and many of the items listed on the menu were no longer available. The overall experience was deeply disappointing.

Our second visit and it was spectacular. The trout was exceptional and a generous portion. My husband had the steak frites and what a wonderful dish. As a bonus their wine prices were reasonable and the list well appointed. Make a reservation as this gem was busy.

Aboyer offers a distinctive and exceptional dining experience. We’ve had the pleasure of dining here multiple times, and each visit is consistently outstanding. The service is flawless—Alfredo, who has served us on several occasions, exemplifies professionalism and dedication. The service team and dining room attendants are always attentive, swiftly removing plates, offering silverware, and ensuring our water glasses are filled. The cuisine is remarkable. We started with the smoked salmon appetizer, followed by the beef bourguignon, both paired with wine recommendations that were spot on. For dessert, we indulged in the profiteroles and apple cobbler—both utterly scrumptious. We look forward to returning soon!

We visited during restaurant week. The room we were in was nice but small. One table’s medium level conversation dominated the room. The server was great while training a new server. The food was wonderful. The flavors were well balanced and the portion size was very good.
