We loved everything about Achiote Ecuador. This is a family owned, family run restaurant that cares about the food, it’s guests and their overall experience. It has recently reopened after the pandemic and is definitely a special place in Quito. Wonderful staff, wonderful atmosphere and very good food. The drinks are good too!

Good food and polite service. I found the singer noisy sometimes, it is fine he is there but it would be appreciated if it was somehow more quiet

Restaurant clearly caters to tourists. The cocktails were excellent. The food presentation was outstanding, but the flavor and preparation were disappointing. The roast pork was extremely dry and the fish was slightly undercooked. Overall, disappointing for the price.

I made a reservation for dinner here with a group of friends after reading glowing reviews. Although our waiter answered questions about the menu initially and the grandson of the resturant stopped by to welcome us, the wait time for food was unacceptable. Somehow it took 45 minutes for the first item to come out, a bowl of soup. Our entrees probably arrived another 20 minutes after that. In addition, our server disappeared after taking the order, and I had to chase him down to follow up on an appetizer that was never brought out (even after finishing our main courses) and for the bill. It appeared the restaurant was short-staffed but that still does not excuse a missing appetizer and the glacial pace of service. Food itself was of good quality and taste but not anything spectacular. I had a seafood casserole and my mother had sea bass which she states was kind of rubbery. Portion sizes were fair for the price. Long story short, the food was decent but the service sorely lacking. Unfortunately, no apologies were given for the poor experience despite pointing out the appetizer failed to appear. Would advise all to steer clear of this place if you only have one chance for a meal in Quito.

Andres steered us to good choices. My quinoa was great--with chunks of pumpkin and crunchy seeds, topped with creamed avocado. My husband very much enjoyed his serviche with crab & octopus.
