We went to Cantley House for the Father Christmas afternoon tea experience. When we got there, our table wasn’t laid, and when they did lay it they didn’t have any tea spoons, so we got wooden stirrers. They brought our food out, and only brought enough for 2 children, when we had 3. This was rectified. The food was very tasty and filling. On to Father Christmas. The lady dressed as an Elf who took us to Father Christmas was very upbeat and did her best to create excitement. Father Christmas himself was disappointing. He wasn’t particularly good with Children. We were in there for about a minute before it was over. We also didn’t get to decorate a ginger bread man with Mrs Claus, which was listed on the experience description. We won’t be returning next year as overall we left feeling quite disappointed.

Booked a table for five for afternoon tea. The service was fabulous, the atmosphere was homely, welcoming but also peaceful. We all enjoyed the food and we weren’t at all hassled or hurried. I would certainly book again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our festive afternoon tea. Lovely atmosphere and food. Service couldn't be better. We were offered a choice of sandwiches, offered extra cream, jam and teas. Definitely going again

We had a lovely aftenoon tea with yourselves, the waiter was lovely very welcoming and attentive. explained everything for us, very friendly. The setting was lovely and the food was delicious, the right amoubt to have and good value for money, my only concern was the sandwiches I felt were a little dry but I wan't ure if they had come out of a cold fridge, I have had bread before on afternoon sandwiches and they felt softer and fresher. would definitely come again though.

The room was cold when we arrived, but the staff member turned up the heating immediately I asked, which was good. We were the only people there, it was warm enough after about 25 mins. The afternoon tea took a while to be brought to us, clearly prepared in advance and kept in a fridge. Sandwiches and cakes slightly on the hard side, the scones were good and had been warmed. It was a special occasion, I was rather disappointed, it was all ok but not good. I won’t be going back

Sadly the initial service was not great. We arrived and were left seated for quite sometime before anyone even really acknowledged us. Once the order had been taken - without asking which tea we would like - things went a bit more smoothly. They also made my 91 year old mother a birthday brownie plate which was lovely.

This was a family Halloween afternoon tea and the decor was excellent. The problem was I had only been at the table for 15 minutes when both children (under 7) wanted the toilet. Despite leaving our coats and half eaten food by the time we returned the waitress had cleared the table! The manageress was very apologetic and boxed up some cakes to take away but my coffee and the children’s drinks went without replacement ! Better training for staff please!

Sadly the bread was really dry and the ham was very tough. The filling was minimal. The scones were nice ..the cakes on top were OK but very sickly for an afternoon tea. The sandwiches are my faveroute part of afternoon tea and we were so disappointed. Such a shame as we got married here and wanted to re visit.

Cantley House Hotel certainly did not disappoint, The food the staff and the whole ambiance of the garden eating area was perfect for a spot of posh afternoon champagne tea. Thank you

Fire your pastry chef all things tasted of nothing. The brownie was dry, the tempered chocolate had a disgusting filling, the attempt at a Mille fuile using cake was just wrong, the macaroon didn’t taste of anything but cream. All sandwiches needed seasoning and should be offered as several rounds. The saving grace were the scones. Sorry but wouldn’t come again for it, you’d be able to achieve what was presented at home from M&S with more success.
