When we arrived although had booked we felt we weren’t expected. After we were seated we waited a while for waiter to come and whilst the waiter was very nice, he appeared to be also serving in the bar so throughout our afternoon tea we did have long periods where we didn’t see anyone. The quality of the afternoon tea was good however the ambience was lacking

We booked for 3pm - there was no staff in the room when we arrived on time. We let Reception know who said someone would be along, at 3.15 we again let reception know that staff had not arrived - at 3.25 2 staff members passing asked if we were waiting for afternoon tea which we said yes, and they said they did not have a booking though a table for 6 had been laid and I had confirmed the booking the day before. At 3.35 another staff member arrived and said that the kitchen had the booking but it had not been passed to front of house and showed us the tea's we could order - we eventually placed our order at 3.45 and was served at 3.55 to wait nearly an hour from our booking is unreasonable. This obviously put a major dampner on our tea - something we had all been looking forward to. Sandwiches and cakes were great as were the fruit scones but the plain scones were very doughy and unpleasant.

Generally wonderful but the dining room smelled of ‘wet dog’??? The food was impeccable but the service was a little slow and lacking warmth. As a coffee drinker I was given a single cup and was charged extra for a refill whilst the tea drinkers each had a pot with 2/3 cups per pot Expensive and very high quality but not without the above flaws otherwise it would have been perfect.

Beautiful presentation. The scones were delicious. The clotted cream and jam only brought out more of the delightful flavor of the scones. I have had an opportunity to try multiple different scones from different places and this is my favorite. Highly recommend. The sandwiches were also delicious.

Not good value for money. Balance of savoury and sweet food too much on the sweet side. Very disappointed.

The room where the tea was served was nice. However I felt it was expensive for the quality of food. The tea choices were VERY DISAPPOINTING. The service was not very professional or helpful .

Unfortunately we had a long wait due to a mix up on our order. The staff were excellent at trying to redeem the situation.

Booked for my husbands 60th birthday requesting a nice table in the Fig restaurant. Phoned twice more to confirm. Arrived to be told they had a function on, restaurant closed to us and were given a table behind the bar, which was noisy with the barman throwing empties into a bin. Not the experience I had booked or would expect to pay for. Left without attempting to sit through it. Phoned Duty manager, who said she would look into it, but still waiting for a call.
