Despite booking afternoon tea for 1pm and arriving on time we weren’t welcomed or approached by anyone in The Piano Bar for 10 minutes. There was no one around and we were left standing in the Piano Bar. Eventually we saw a gentleman and we made ourselves known and that we had booked afternoon tea. We were seated and told we’d need to wait a few moments. The gentleman returned shortly afterwards and stated he had 1 table left for our afternoon tea. There were 4 other people in the Piano Bar seated at tables so it wasn’t busy. My wife and I felt really disappointed that despite booking we were made to feel lucky to get the last table. I very nearly left at this point but I knew that my wife’s treat would have been totally ruined. We decided to stay but vowed we’d never use the Cambridge Hilton again. The quality of the sandwiches etc were good and the service was just adequate in the end. Unfortunately the whole experience wasn’t as I’d hoped and the £60 price paid wasn’t value for money.

Amazing service and high quality food. The table was set out with white table cloth and candles. The staff were very helpful and reassuring about my allergy and where double checking everything.

Our afternoon tea was amazing. The sandwiches, scones and cakes were all beautifully made and delicious. The lounge bar was lovely. We went around lunchtime on a Sunday and it was really quiet and peaceful. The only minor negatives were the staff weren’t really on the ball, like it took ages to get their attention and giving us strawberry mousse but no spoons! It was also a bit irritating that at £25 per head (adult or child) it only included tea, but not soft drinks for children so we had to pay for those separately. Anyway, overall we’d recommend it and we’d go back again.

The Festive Afternoon Tea was better than advertised. A reserved table awaited us along with the manager and his staff. They helped us to decide on what tea we wanted, and it was brought out promptly. Not long afterwards, the sandwiches, scones, and sweets followed. The presentation was breathtaking and they tasted even better. The staff was friendly and attentive to our every need. This Tea service was truly a special event and I highly recommend it.

Very Quiet, was the only couple having afternoon tea and it arrived late (around 30 mins after sitting down), however, the waitress gave us complimentary Prosecco for it. The sandwich were ok but nothing wowed us, we had to spit the egg sand which out but the ham and cheese wrap was delicious. Scones were dry and the desserts was nice but very weird flavours. The brownie like dessert and the hot chocolate was the best thing. It didn’t feel like a Hilton standard of food but waitresses were lovely and helpful.

Compared to afternoon tea at nearby Browns, which costs the same, this was not value for money. Only two identical scones, and a modest amount (I counted eight) of thinly sliced sandwiches. Also some miniature cakes. The service was pleasant and friendly and I tipped the waiter accordingly. When I'd finished my pot of tea, the waiter brought me a second pot at no extra charge. But the same generosity needed to be extended to the meal itself. There was simply not enough food for two adults.

Totally misleading venue main photo! 😖 The hotel is NOT by the river as its photo on open table shows! We were in a large lounge on the first floor and windows overlook a road! We expressed our disappointment. Food was okay, the staff were very polite, but didn’t make up for the total lack of atmosphere… I had invited my friend to an afternoon tea by the river and we didn’t get it ☹️

I booked this to celebrate my friend birthday. On arrival they had not been notified and asked to see the booking. Place was dirty and tables not clean. We were told the tea would be late and offered us soft drinks on the house. I ordered drinks as my level of disappointment was high at that point and told them we are not staying. I was charged for the drinks before leaving. I would never go there again and have put that on social media to warn people.
