Located at 40 Brattle Street in Harvard Square, Alden & Harlow serves thoughtfully sourced, honest American food in a subterranean, modern and comfortable space. Replicating the style of cooking he does for family and friends in his home kitchen, Chef Michael Scelfo prepares humble, unpretentious food that honors tradition of place in its quality. It's how he connects with anyone who joins them at their table.

While reservations are strongly suggested, we also save a portion of the dining room and bar for walk-ins in the event that your request cannot be accommodated. So please, come on in!

We had such a lovely meal. The beets were especially delicious and the smoked brownie was amazing!

We are frequent visitors to Boston but this was our first time at Alden and Harlow. We would highly recommend this restaurant. They had a very nice selection of vegetarian plates and our waitress was helpful in telling us which entrees had "secret" non-vegetarian ingredients. We ordered the ubiquitous kale salad and honestly felt like we could have stopped there and been happy; we weren't sure it could get any better than that. The pickled corn pancakes were a real treat, served with popcorn of all things, and the combined flavors of the popcorn with maple and shishito were incredible. The restaurant was really busy but not overly noisy. We will definitely visit again.

My friend and I had a really wonderful dinner at Alden and Harlow this evening. We sat in this sweet area of their dining room near a green wall lined with plants. The noise level was perfect, so my friend and I could hear each other and catch up. Cozy spot to be on a crisp fall night. Service was wonderful and food was great. I recommend the Ubiquitous Kale Salad and the Secret Burger!

Food was great but service was horrendous. It ruined the meal because some food came, some food came so late we didn’t even want it anymore. Could not find a server or anyone to get us water or drinks. Just bad.
