Located in the heart of downtown State College, our newly restored space offers an honest, no-fuss menu featuring modern American cooking. The bar program features classics-inspired craft cocktails and a thoughtfully curated biodynamic wine list including plentiful wines by the glass.

Located on the second floor of Hotel State College, an iconic corner of hospitality in the community, the Grill has offered the community and alumni one of the grandest views of town and Penn State through floor-to-ceiling windows for more than 40 years. Thoughtfully restored and reimagined by new owners, Chef Karen Nicolas and the team set out to re-establish the Allen Street Grill as the epicenter of the downtown dining scene with a focus on local, quality ingredients and great hospitality.

    The food was great I had the chicken it was fantastic, my husband had the duck he loved it and my kids got the fettuccine, so good. Apps did not disappoint soup, burrata and lamb chops all great. A bit pricey but for a special occasion worth it.

    Great window seat. Friendly and very knowledgeable server. Appreciated details he gave with respect to food on menu. Everything was great but the duck was just so so. Deserts were amazing.

    Wonderful, as usual. ASG is consistently amazing. I had the Divers Scallops. Delicious. Salted Butterscotch Mousse was decadent.

    A lot of pluses and minuses. Plus: fantastic Branzino, Arugula salad, and onion soup. Minuses: too salty simple salad, duck breast was tough, wine prices crazy expensive, waited 10 minutes after reservation time to be seated.

    We always have a good experience at Allen St Grill, but this time was even better than normal. Our server, Rachel, had a lovely personality and exceptional knowledge of the wine, dinner and dessert menus. We ended up taking all of her recommendations and couldn't have been more pleased. The food was delicious and paired perfectly with the wine she suggested. Dessert... please bring me more of the Salted Butterscotch Mousse - I need this in my life!

    Interesting menu, especially for a college town. The duck entrée was flavorful, but unfortunately, the duchess potatoes were cold. Arugula salad and salted butterscotch mousse were exceptional. Also, the bar was tended by a gentleman who was not enjoying his job that night.

    Attended the wine importer class and it was excellent. These classes are an experience you won’t receive elsewhere as Chris is passionate about wine and providing tastings of unique quality wines. The wine menu at ASG is excellent as well. This wine list has many grape varietals not found on other restaurant wine lists locally. I enjoy the variety and the ability to try something new I’ve never had. The restaurant also sells wine to take home at very reasonable costs. I enjoy the variety here that I can’t find elsewhere. The cocktails are also amazing and this is the best bar staff in State College. We had the linguini for dinner and it was delicious.
