Located in the heart of downtown State College, our newly restored space offers an honest, no-fuss menu featuring modern American cooking. The bar program features classics-inspired craft cocktails and a thoughtfully curated biodynamic wine list including plentiful wines by the glass.

Located on the second floor of Hotel State College, an iconic corner of hospitality in the community, the Grill has offered the community and alumni one of the grandest views of town and Penn State through floor-to-ceiling windows for more than 40 years. Thoughtfully restored and reimagined by new owners, Chef Karen Nicolas and the team set out to re-establish the Allen Street Grill as the epicenter of the downtown dining scene with a focus on local, quality ingredients and great hospitality.

It takes a lot of dedication to the initial quality to allow any of the beverages to help create a time worthy drink.     We received excellent service during our visit, which was to celebrate my birthday. The young man at the host podium was incredibly kind and accommodating to my 80 year old mother, who I has mobility issues. This set the tone for a lovely dining experience. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly, making recommendations when asked and taking extra care. Our food was delicious and interesting. We especially loved the rolls and butter with flaky maldon salt, the carrot soup and the fisherman risotto. This is the place to celebrate or just enjoy a special meal with exceptional service.

    Very expensive for the quality. The steak tartare has low quality non-tender and fatty meat, but this is hidden beneath the seasoning it comes with. The half-chicken has nothing extraordinary, except the plate it comes in, and not the same care is given to the same meals of differently dressed clients. The wine behind the menu : a regular 6ounce glass for 18$/glass, comparable to the bottles you find in the supermarket for 9$/bottle. The servers will do their best to sell you the most expensive items (of course they get % from the tip). This pre apetizer discourse "my favorite dishes from the card are..." deceiving.
