   Unique experience to have a Texas style meal outside on the Riverwalk. Meal was excellent and the service was great. Highly recommend having this dinner.

   We really enjoyed the food and atmosphere, this is a great space. We wish our apps had been cleared from the table well in advance of our main courses arriving. It was a great menu for all the different palates in our group.

   I think we went on an off day but for a restaurant that charges $50pp for cancellations, I expected A LOT MORE. We arrived early for our reservation and was seated right away. Our table was broken and it took me asking the host for our waitress for us to get any assistance. We sat for 10 minutes plus for service. We were able to move to another table but then again another wait. The place didn’t look super packed for the delay in service and water. The service was decent. The food was good but warmish. I would give them another try but this start to celebrate my husband’s birthday was a bit rough.

   We had a great experience on the patio for Sunday brunch. The food was delicious. Although the service was slow, it was attentive and not an issue.

   Expensive place located on the river. Our server was attentive and personal. The food was good but not exceptional. Drinks were good although the first one was returned (it had mescal in it).

   Ambler puts on a great feed. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, always great fun at Ambler. We love to amble ourselves over to ambler, anytime.

   We reserved a table at the Ambler Texas Kitchen Cowboy Live Fire Cooking Kitchen event this past Saturday and it was a superior experience we will never forget. First and foremost, we loved the superior food, drinks, service, and live music on the riverwalk. All were the absolute best we've experienced in more than 40 years. All food was cooked on the patio in view, on large cowboy field style grills which created a show in itself. Bellamy and all other customer service representatives were joyful, professional, knew their job to a high expertise, and absolutely the best in the business. Also we loved that the table we reserved was only for us all night, so if you arrive early then you have no wait and will be seat immediately, and never a rush to leave. We sat for three hours and had a multiple course meal which included bread, salad, fried quail, each choice main protein with three sides, then desert and ice cream. All were truly the best food I've had ever. If you eat at one place and / or do one thing in San Antonio then I suggest you experience the Ambler Live Fire cooking event or at least eat at Ambler Texas Kitchen. We definitely will return and experience this event again. Also while we stayed at Westin Hotel next door, the beautiful Hotel Contessa is part of Ambler Texas Kitchen and we will book this hotel next stay.

   I made a reservation at 10:15 am and arrived at 10:10 for my family. We were told that “the kitchen got caught off guard and was backed up” so they couldn’t seat us for another 20 minutes past our reservation time….(mind you the restaurant was maybe only 2/3-3/4 full - and nobody was at the tables by or at the bar. Once we returned, we were seated and our server was good and food was great- but what’s the point of having a reservation if you are not going to honor it?

    From open table pictures looked like upscale establishment- only thing upscale is the prices :/
