Comforting favorites in Avondale by Chefs Johnny Clark and Beverly Kim inspired by old-world cooking. Start your meal with a selection of beverages like a bottle of trendy orange wine or head to the bar after work with no reservation needed for a craft cocktail like The Muse with gin and beet kvass. Our appetizer cart will roll to your table to start your dinner with over 10 bites beckoning to be picked like our fan-favorite smoked carrot paté or sunflower seed hummus. Our main dishes offer a variety of homestyle flavors just like your mother made from thick soups to layered pasta and fluffy Ukrainian garlic bread. Coffee, after-dinner drinks and a flaky pastry like our Napoleon invite you to finish the meal with a sweet treat and hours of good conversation in a space that feels like home.

Great presentation, great service, and interesting dishes. Prices are a bit steep on certain items and the quantity you get is not much. Portions are a bit small but very tasty. We will be back to try a few other things. We spent $200 for two people for Valentine's day dinner.

Outstanding dining experience! Delicious and interesting food and drink. Wonderful service and ambiance. Only small negative was that the meal was served too quickly, maybe because it was their restaurant week menu? Highly recommend!!

I really wanted to love this place and give it a second chance. The first time I visited was right after it opened, and unfortunately, my experience wasn’t great. However, I thought it might have been due to the initial growing pains of a new restaurant, so I decided to return—especially because it’s a Ukrainian restaurant, and as someone from Ukraine, I truly want to support Ukrainian businesses. Thanks to Chicago Restaurant Week, I gave it another try, but sadly, nothing had changed. I left feeling very disappointed. I’ve been participating in Chicago Restaurant Week for years, and this year, I visited two other restaurants before this one. Compared to those experiences, this visit fell far below expectations. The portion sizes were incredibly small, and unfortunately, none of the dishes stood out in terms of flavor. My expectations were high, especially since Anelya is aiming for Michelin-guide , but overall, the food was very mediocre. The cake, for example, had just one cherry in my slice, which felt underwhelming.Lazy Varenyky what even was it ? Short rib with just one piece of meat ,borsch was ok I would say Pampushky saved it a little . The service was another letdown. While I could tell that many of the staff members were Ukrainian, it was clear that they still need to adapt to the level of service expected in the American restaurant industry. I didn’t feel particularly welcomed—no one checked in on us to see if we were enjoying our meal, dirty silverware was left on the table, and the table itself wasn’t wiped down while we were eating. I also felt rushed throughout the meal, which made the experience even less enjoyable. To make matters worse, the cost did not match the experience at all. We paid over $140 for Chicago Restaurant Week, which felt excessive given the portion sizes and overall quality. I can only imagine how expensive it would be outside of this special event, and frankly, I don’t think it’s worth the price. I hate to leave a negative r

Incredible depth of flavors. We went during restaurant week and had their 5 course offering. The dumplings, short rib and borsch were next level as were the wines and in house infusion based drinks. Have to also give a hat tip to the amazing service and the warm and vibey dining room. We will definitely be going back.

Overall we were very impressed with Anelya, including the quality of the food, drinks, and ambiance. We went for restaurant week and got a good sampling of their classic dishes, but will definitely come back to try other interesting items on their main menu. The only slightly negative comment is that it felt like the cocktail I got, essentially an old fashioned, was perhaps too strong. To each their own though.

Love it here so much. Food is amazing, unique and delicious, so much flavor. Great service. My only suggestion would be that I love the hors d’ouevre cart but it’s hard to see without a light on it. Maybe add a battery powered rope light to each level or something so that they all look as delicious as they are.
