   What has happened to this formerly superb restaurant? We relished an extraordinary special-occasion meal here 2.5 years ago, experiencing some of the most dazzling and inventive pescatarian cooking of our past 26 years of fine dining together, and exemplary warm service. We have often dreamt of returning and had supposed that again ordering the “Let us pick for you” prix fixe menu would be the highlight of our return to San Francisco. The morning after, it is hard to shake our sense of disappointment of dinner last night at Angler. And this with a tariff of $650 for two. There were high and low points in the food offerings, but too many lows for a restaurant of these pretensions. Ruby-red totally uncooked squab betrayed carelessness in the kitchen. Too often, the flavor profiles were discordant and undercut the impeccable ingredients. Equally unfortunate, our table for two was adjacent to that of a large party including some apparent friend of the restaurant. While the kitchen sent out every menu item to them, and seemingly every employee came by to pay homage, we languished next door unattended, with long, unexplained intervals between courses. Basic services like clearing our table and refilling water and wine glasses were sporadic and neglectful. Most often, our view of our servers was of their backsides.

   Disappointing service. After finishing dessert and having all plates cleared, we waited 20 minutes, but the bill never arrived. When I approached a staff member in a black suit to address the issue, she simply responded with, 'Thanks for letting me know,' repeating it multiple times without any apology or acknowledging the inconvenience for the oversight. The lack of accountability was frustrating.

   Amazing food and service! My partner and I’s first time eating here and it was for Valentine’s Day. We would definitely recommend dining here!

   We had the ‘Cook for You’ set menu and it was amazing. Especially the appetizer with the chopped tuna. Service was outstanding, and ambiance is very warm but with a unique character. Definitely worth the Michelin star.

   We’ve been to many Michelin star restaurants but not sure how Angler is one of them. We didn’t know that they’re a Michelin star restaurant so we didn’t have any expectations. Poor service, pushy, and unfriendly staff. We had to sit and wait for our champagne bottle to chill in the ice bucket. We requested to have chilled champagne flutes to start enjoying our champagne with the raw oyster platter, but were turned down because according to the hostess, chilled flutes are not necessary as the ice is enough to chill the champagne bottle and we just needed to wait. At least the staring contest with the half shelf oysters while we waited was entertaining. This business model will not sustain. There are much better non-Michelin stars restaurants with better food and service.

   Food and service were excellent. Came for a lunch business meeting. Music was a little loud which was making it difficult for conversation but they kindly turned it down upon request.

   The food and service were amazing. Every dish was so imaginative and delicious. Made better by such friendly and attentive servers. An absolutely incredible experience!

   Everything tasted kind of fishy after getting the tuna, bread was nice. If you like fish go here, the ambiance is really nice, you can look out on the water and the seats are comfortable. Great service, and good quality food just not my taste.

    It was a lovely lunch. We had the lunch special. A great value Everything was memorable. We came with a 3 1/2 year-old and a five-year-old and everybody was kind to us.
