Why they're an Icon

Executive chef: Ralph Pausina

From the OpenTable editors: Antoine’s is the county’s oldest continuously operating restaurant and a special-occasion destination for its opulent setting and elegant, French-Creole fare. Sit in one of 14 gilded dining rooms to feast on favorites like oyster Rockefeller and soufflé potatoes, both original to the restaurant. Cap the meal with a classic baked Alaska or the house chicory coffee, laced with cognac and triple sec and flamed tableside—it’s New Orleans, after all.

Absolutely wonderful experience! The food was amazing and our server Becky was the perfect touch to our experience. The escargot and chargrilled oysters were 5 Stars!!

We love the history, fine dining service, and atmosphere. The oyster Rockefeller and my filet were delicious, but the seafood was overcooked and tasteless. It appears Antoine's is riding on their history, catering to tourists, and forgotten that there are plenty of better restaurants in this great city.

There were 4 of us, and everything was delightful, though the vegetarian entree, the mushroom bourguignon, served as a soup, was disappointing. The sliced (not quartered) mushrooms floated in a thin broth with a few, quarter-sized potato medallions wandering around. It was very much a gravy looking for some pasta or mashed potatoes to cover. Without a more substantial base, it was sad, lonely, insubstantial, and overly salted. I’d happily go back, all things considered , but I’d make my meal from sides rather than risk the over-priced afterthought of a vegetarian entree.

A magnificent experience from the beginning to the end. A place where you can relax, talk, cut up and have fun at a fine dining restaurant. Highly recommended!

We had heard wonderful things about Antoine’s but left feeling underwhelmed, especially given the prices. From the start, the hostess didn’t greet us and in it felt like we were inconveniencing them. When we sat, the waiter didn’t place napkins, which is a common practice at these fine dining establishments. Despite the restaurant having plenty of open tables, we were sat next to a lively and loud group of 8. While it was awesome to see a large group enjoying a night out, it was very difficult for my wife and I to hold a conversation. More thought should have gone into seating. The food was excellent and while our servers were friendly, they were inattentive. We waited 10-12 minutes for drinks and the second time I ordered one, our waiter forgot to bring it. While I might overlook some of these seemingly minor things at lesser restaurants, Antoine’s advertises themselves as fine dining. When you’re eating at a restaurant with plates costing $50-$80 each, it’s reasonable to expect top notch service and better thought into seating guests.

Our headwaitress was certainly very good and service and food were excellent. However the man from the kitchen who came with our entrees was very rude, unfriendly and crude in the way he presented our entree choices. If he had another personality it would be lonely! I have gone to this restaurant for many years and enjoyed it very much. Antoine’s used to be a classy place with near perfection in food and service. This restaurant is very expensive and one should expect higher standards. The staff needs more training in engaging patrons in the proper way. Sadly I will not return to this restaurant. We had the $67 Revellion Dinner package. Everything was excellent and the steak alone would cost more than $67 at comparable restaurants. Antoine's is a living part of New Orleans history that everyone should enjoy at least once in their life.
