Bamboo-Mat is a Peruvian-Japanese fusion restaurant based in Leyton serving fresh sushi, nikkei sharing plates and cocktails. Run by chef Victor Rosca formerly of Sushisamba,Roka and Lucky Cat by Gordon Ramsey and his business partner Denis Gobjila ex of Chotto Matte. Bamboo Mat brings together their combined years of experience with a fresh perspective on Nikkei cuisine. It was supposed to be a surprise for my friend’s birthday, I wrote it on my booking if there could be a surprise in the end of our meal with a cake/candle but my request wasn’t fulfilled. Food was good. Hamachi was very nice. Oxtail was very good it was so tender but it was a little salty but it’s okay.

Feedback is a gift. First off if you’re going to take order the waiter needs to be able to understand what is being communicated. Secondly, the order came out on a very staggered basis, not altogether which took away from the fact the food was very good.

The food was amazing, everyone well prepared and well presented, altho the white rice tasted unrinsed and not fresh/reheated. The cocktails were ok. Had a small issue during the payment, which was done in cash, I counted the notes in front of the server, but then took it away and returned asking if I could top up cuz there was some small amount missing. I'm sure I gave even extra and if this is to happen, maybe she should have double checked the notes in front of me/while I was counting.

Pleasantly decorated restaurant for bottomless brunch. Great value for money. Our very nice server was very attentive, described every dish and topped up out wine regularly. More food than we could eat between 2 of us but all delicious. Would def recommend bottomless brunch
