Bar Primi is a pasta shop devoted to ‘primi piatti,’ the pasta course. What began as an idea for a small space in New York’s East Village has since become a downtown New York staple, housed on the Bowery for the last ten years. With this second location in Penn District, chef-partner Andrew Carmellini will carry on his same tried and true methods of making fresh pasta traditionally prepared and cooked to order, using a variety of non-GMO semolina and specialty ‘00’ flours, organic eggs and family recipes. Italian wines are offered by the glass and by the bottle. A playful list of signature cocktails, which includes the original Frosé, aperitivi, a robust beer list, amari and coffee by La Colombe are also features.

    Declicious! The server had great recommendations and we got our food quickly. We had an early dinner (5:30 PM) and the restaurant was large and open - not crowded at that time. The food was amazing and delicious!

    The house salad was fantastic as were two different pasta dishes. Nice atmosphere and very good service. We sat inside but there a great outdoor area with fireplace. Bar Primi is well worth a visit, just a block away from Madison Square Garden.

    We absolutely loved the vibe here. The food was excellent, the ambiance was perfect. It's a warm, friendly, buzzing atmosphere with excellent indoor and outdoor options. Photo booth in basement is a nice touch.

    Food good to very good, decent ambience. Service good as well, but overbearing—no need to check on diners every 10 minutes, and the over-enthusiasm from hostess to server seems rather forced.

    Host and wait staff could be friendlier / more communicative. Restaurant still needs to be finished. Pretty much go there for the appetizers and desserts. Pretty restaurant just has some kinks to work out.
