I hosted a dinner for a business group at Basalt, an extraordinary restaurant in St. George Utah. located at the magnificent Black Desert Resort, all of my expectations were exceeded. I’ve eaten in restaurants around the world, this is among my top culinary experiences. not inexpensive, however, the meal was worth the money we spent. the steaks were top-notch and perfectly prepared. rare came out rare, medium rare, came out perfectly done. The steak tartar was as good as any I’ve had on the continent. The accompanying sauces were simple and fresh. Nothing overdone or overpowering. The service was low-key, professional, and appropriately attentive. If you are in St. George and you are looking for a celebratory meal or just an amazing dinner, I cannot recommend Basalt highly enough.

Great service. Very good steaks. My partner had the bone-in ribeye and I tried the NY strip. Both were prepared perfectly and were very tasty. The menu is mostly alacarte and the sides are portioned to share. The menu offered some seafood and a few other non-steak choices. They offered a full bar and nice wine list. The prices are as expected for a high-end resort restaurant. Great views too. They also accept reservations.

This was such a great experience! Loved everything-the milk bread, mac and cheese, and sirloin were for sure highlights and we got the signature sauce and chimichurri and loved both!

Warm and flat champagne, awful baked potato loaded with velveta cheese and dried out bacon, asparagus tasted like turnups. Save your money and go to sizzler!

It is a new restaurant in a resort that is not yet complete. The food was good but the price was extremely expensive. The service was very good. The view looking out into the mountains was beautiful however the way the restaurant was setup only allows a few people to have a view.

Must orders: the crabcake, Caesar salad, wagyu or the filet, lobster tail, Mac and cheese, broccolini, mushrooms, and butter potatoes! Sooooo yummy! For dessert the smores, key lime pie, and crème brûlée are all delicious! Tee is the best and she made the experience for us! She gave the best recommendations! We can’t wait to come back and see her again!
