This was the most elegant and classy meal we have had in St. George since we moved here in 2022. First of all, the furnishings are luxe and comfortable. The view is spectacular: water features, rolling golf course, red cliffs, and sunset. The acoustics seem designed to promote conversation and the tables are spaced so conversations are possible without shouting. Our server, Kara, was knowledgeable about the offerings, attentive, and gracious. The FOOD was phenomenal. We don't eat much wheat, dairy, or meat, and clearly the menu is oriented towards meat-eaters, but it also had a lot of vegetable sides. Moreover, I don't usually trust many restaurants to know how to handle one of my favorite (European) meals: beef carpaccio. It was not only prepared with expertise, but was a generous amount, totally adequate for a main course, even though it's listed as a starter. The home-made bread served with it was sublime; toasted and seasoned deliciously. Then I had roasted leeks with feta cheese and wild mushrooms. One other side, listed as Sweet Potato Soufflé, seemed more like a parfait, too sweet for a vegetable. Another friend had simple asparagus, crisply done to perfection. One glass of wine that I shared with my husband kept our check under an eye-watering amount. The only drawback, as this restaurant is still in its ramp-up was the music, which started as a pounding unpleasant elevator type, which our server was able to turn down to almost nothing. For a restaurant at this level of elegance, we suggested classical, or soft something at low levels would be more appropriate. Overall, I would repeat this experience as much as we can afford, especially for special, romantic occasions and for guests. This is a jewel in the crown of beautiful St. George.

The food was spot on - off the chart flavors really exceptional - pricing was little high for SGU area but restaurant is in tourists resort so demographic will allow for higher pricing - didn’t like the whole $7.00 split plate thing …. Trend is tapas these days …. So silly to charge consumers extra to share …. That’s the beauty of being out with friends sharing dishes and trying flavors together - otherwise wonderful

We just came back from California over the holidays and we were really spoiled eating at mastros and great Steak restaurants in LA, I am can put Basalt up there with these high end restaurants, too bad we had a huge table reserved for An engagement party and its a bit noisy but other than that , the Basalt experience was a great treat! Loved the wagyu and the chimichurri sauce was so Good , it melts in Your mouth… I would gladly recommend and keep coming back to Basalt for great food .

I was disappointed in the ambiance of both the hotel and the restaurant. It reminded me of an airport hotel with mediocre finishes. The food was good, and we paid for it. Very pricy. Four drinks at the bar came with a $90 bill. The service at dinner was good.

Amazing food, drinks and sunset views along with great service. The butter potatoes were incredible and complemented the perfectly cooked steaks. We had the s’mores desert and it melted in our mouths. Can’t wait to go back and try the pork chop and key lime pie.

For $300, for two of us, it most definitely was not worth it. $20 cocktail was horrific. Steaks were “eh”, could have had the same at Longhorn. Milk bread (which we’ve had before) had a funky flavor. And our waitress (Tee) was annoying. My husband moved his silverware to the side and she decided to come over and place them where she wanted. Not once, but twice! Once before the meal and then during the appetizer. For the price, it was absolutely not worth it. There are plenty of other nice restaurants with great food (and service!) for a fraction of the cost.

Don't be fooled by the name -- the Funeral Potatoes are a fabulous appetizer!
