    MICHELIN 1 Star

    2024

From the OpenTable editors: BCN Taste and Tradition is where you go for the ultimate Spanish fine-dining experience, thanks to Barcelona native and chef Luis Roger. In a charming 1920’s-style bungalow decked with art from Spanish artists like Pablo Picasso and Joan Miró, Roger impresses with artfully plated dishes like a suckling Ibérico pig and salt-cured cod with saffron mousseline. Stellar, all-Spanish wines and a deep gin and tonic list add to the transportative vibe at this MICHELIN-Starred Montrose gem.

The bad - it's generally not cheap and I was seated at the bar for dinner even though I had a reservation. Though, I was dinning by myself and it's a prestigious restaurant, so I understand they don't want to give me my own table. And if you stick to JUST the cheapest selections, you could get away with ordering appetizer, soup/salad, entre, and dessert for ~ $60. But it can go up from there very quick. The good - the food is incredible. Worthy of the hype. The flavor pairings work together incredibly well, and every dish was seemingly cooked perfectly. The wait staff was friendly and helpful, I even got to shake hands with the chef. The interior is small but beautiful, it feels intimate. Even though I listed a couple negatives, the short review is that the food is so good I can't give it anything less than 5 stars.

It’s a beautiful place, the cocktails are off the charts, I would give them a 10 out of five. I wanted to like it more, we had the artichoke appetizer. It was basically just artichoke hearts that were charred with a dipping sauce that you could barely taste. We had the beet and Burrata salads they were OK but I’ve never seen citrus and dairy together, maybe it’s just me. I ordered the fillet which came out way overcooked and had to be sent back. My wife ordered the scallop appetizer as an entrée (not a ton of vegetarian options). It was not good, it was served in a purée that tasted like warm Gerber baby food. I liked our server, but the team approach to serving with the bus staff, not speaking English and taking away my wife’s uneaten plate without our server knowing didn’t help. No one came and asked us if we wanted another drink or how our food was after it was served, including my dish that had to be remade. Everything seemed to have a burnt char taste. The price point seemed on point but with marginal service and food, we wouldn’t come back.

Wonderful experience. A late lunch with some live music, great food and service. The art on display was very interesting and they took the time to show us around and to tell the story behind.

No parking - just valet for $8. The restaurant is small, but warm and cozy. The food preparation is excellent, and both the food and drinks are simply beautiful to look at. Sitting at the bar is nice but can be loud if the guitarist and singer are on hand.
