The Bedes Lea is a family-friendly pub located in the Hampshire village of North Baddesley, just outside Southampton. Situated on Rownhams Lane, the Bedes Lea is right at the heart of the local community. From the kitchen, you can enjoy our delicious seasonal menu. On arrival they didn't appear to have any knowledge of my booking. However I was made very welcome and shown to a table. Service was good and the food was good.

Started badly when asked if we minded if our Prosecco came in a wine glass rather than flute. Waited for half a hour for first course which was mediocre. Waited over an hour and a half then for our main course which looking around the half empty dining room was par for the course. When it arrived it was lukewarm and the turkey was tough. Didn’t finish the food and stay for the dessert and coffee. Complained and ended up offering to pay half price which was frankly more than it was worth. My wife and I were hoping for a Xmas treat but instead 2024 will be remembered as THAT AWFUL XMAS MEAL!

We were the only ones there. So, ambiance was cool.. Food served up isn’t going to set the world on fire. Edible. I’m glad we only ordered basic snacky food though. Friendly enough.

There was no burger sauce in the burger as it stated in the menu. The soft goey cookie dough dessert with a biscoff centre was just a very burnt cookie with no biscoff at all, very disappointed. Service was very good and the food was hot.

Restaurant was empty for our visit. Wondered why but now understand! Ordered 2 Scampi and chips and 1 Roast Chicken Sunday lunch. Waiter friendly and cheerful. Scampi was fine… chips thin and a little overcooked. Sunday Roast Chicken arrived totally overcooked and dried up! Impossible to cut properly and soon decided it was inedible! Waitress told nicely and she went to get Manager. Manager accepted situation and agreed to deduct it from bill. Will not be visiting again!

Service was dreadful, food wasn’t worth going back for. New management is worse than the last! Check tripadvisor review (Jessica Todd), the good ones look like they’re from staff lol. Don’t waste your time and money here.

Unfortunately the cook didn't see my booking for a Sunday meal and so was unable to contact me to say that the kitchen had closed. The cook did agree to make us a meal, but not the Roast (which is 2nd to none and why we booked). More than anything else it was the disappointment of not getting that fabulous roast we were looking forward to.
