A disappointing brunch. My friends and I have an annual get together; last year’s visit here was delicious. This year, we enjoyed our bottle of bubbles but little else. Boring chilaquiles, tough egg omelets, boring roasted potatoes served in adorable (but not warmed!) Staub mini iron pots. The final disappointment was an Apple pastry served to us straight from the refrigerator. Have you tried pastry direct from the fridge? The laminated pastry is tough and doughy. When I sent it back, I was told that it was always served like that(?!). Apparently the restaurant is still suffering from the untimely demise of a beloved chef earlier in the year.

Very limited choice menu and very small portions. The desert was a joke, it was only two bites. However, the property is nice and does have valet for $65, however, only $25 if you have dinner at the Bellpine. We would probably not return. I have been to several Ritz Carlton’s, Laguna Niguel, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles, Portland location would score at the bottom of the list. Disappointed . . .

Incredible view, you really can't beat it. We had breakfast and it was just okay. Over-priced and mediocre. Service was fantastic and ambiance top notch.

We had the absolute pleasure of having Gabriel as our server at The Ritz-Carlton for brunch, and he truly made our experience exceptional. From the moment we sat down, Gabriel’s warm demeanor and attention to detail were evident. He didn’t just meet our expectations—he went above and beyond to make our brunch memorable. Gabriel anticipated every need without us even asking, from keeping our coffee cups filled to recommending the perfect pairings on the menu. He even surprised us with treats to celebrate a special occasion! It’s rare to find someone who genuinely cares about the guests’ experience, and Gabriel’s enthusiasm and professionalism set a high bar for service. Thanks to Gabriel, our brunch was not only delicious but also unforgettable. If you’re dining here, I highly recommend requesting him—you won’t be disappointed!

I booked a reservation weeks in advance and noted that we were celebrating our anniversary. Instead of being seated in the main restaurant, we were put at a low table in the lounge in the back corner behind the bar. The service was mediocre at best. I want to be clear, our server was wonderful and she did a very good job considering, but they were clearly understaffed. Going to the Ritz, we expected ambiance (not the lounge), good food (pretty decent), and impeccable service. This is why people pay their outrageous prices. In every other city we have dined at the Ritz, we have received impeccable service, wonderful food, and a charming atmosphere. Not in Portland.

The experiences offered by Bellpine have consistently improved with each one offered. There are several venues in Portland that offer an afternoon tea service, but Bellpine's offering comes the closest to reminding me of the time I spent in Australia. The service starts with, of course, a selection of teas from Tealeaves, and an optional pour of sparkling wine from Argyle (for an additional $10). The selection of sandwiches are an excellent combination of traditional tea sandwiches with some offering the more creative twists Bellpine has become known for. I selected the Wild Mountain Berry as my first tea, and all of the sandwiches paired well with it. If you do add the sparkling wine pour, I'd recommend saving it for the desserts portion, but found it paired well with the cured ham and carved turkey sandwiches. That said, the selection of desserts wrap up the tea service nicely, although if you are hoping for the creative desserts Bellpine showcases during dinner, the tea service features much more traditional offerings. Overall, the tea service at Bellpine is an experience I'd happily do again. While one you can do solo, I'd recommend bringing company to fully complete the experience. In either case, I believe you will find yourself leaving fully satisfied.
