   Went for happy hour time slot, ordered baked Brie and garlic fries. Dinner was the short rib and steak frites. Food came out quickly, waitress was friendly and provided opinions and made great menu recommendations. Brussels sprouts were delicious, as i subbed my mashed potatoes for them. Portions were generous. Would order the baked Brie again for sure.

   Loved the cannelloni and lemon creme brûlée. My friend had the ahi tuna salad which also was delicious! Service was flawless!

   After waiting 20 minutes from the time of ordering our food, I asked the server how soon could we expect our meals? He gave a glib answer and said it should be soon. Our meals arrived almost 5 minutes later, and the three burger meals we ordered were the appropriate temperature as were the french fries, my husband’s meatloaf and mashed potatoes were if not, Stone cold, definitely cold. Even his plate. Obviously his plate had been sitting for at least 15 of the 20-25 minutes that we were waiting. We let the expo know before she even left the table, that his meal was cold and she took it away. It took entirely too long for his “hot” meal to arrive. The mashed potatoes were definitely hot as was the au jus, but when he got to the middle of the meatloaf, it was in his words “refrigerator cold”. But probably the most obnoxious “slight” was the whipped cream on the Keylime pie. I had to ask the server what it was, because I did not even realize it was whipped cream. It was white and slimy and had zero form whatsoever. When The Kitchen realized the whipped cream had a problem, they should have served that Keylime pie with no whipped cream rather than what we ended up with. In his defense, the server asked if we wanted a new piece of pie without any whipped cream whatsoever. We’d already eaten a quarter of the pie in front of us so I declined. But he did not apologize, he explained it away. So the meatloaf dish and a Keylime pie were an absolute bust . But the burgers and french fries were delicious. Our server should’ve apologized immediately when I brought up the subject of the long wait time, rather than excuse it away. The same is true for the slimy whipped cream on the Keylime pie. He should not have tried to explain that away, rather he should’ve apologized and immediately brought us a new piece of pie sans “whip cream”, NOT just offer to bring us one. He should’ve been embarrassed to have put that down on our table in the first place.

   Monday's wine and dine of two salads and two entrees and a bottle of wine for $65 remains a great value and deal! Especially since Bennett's finally listened and stopped chilling the red wines! That made no sense at all! So, now my wife enjoyed her sea bass and i enjoyed the meat loaf with a perfect glass of cab and then took the rest of the bottle home!

    Bennet’s has become the ‘go to’ for Sacramento dining. Every time we are greeted and seated promptly. We experience superior service and food. Tonight we brought wine for which there’s a reasonable corkage fee. My wife enjoyed her beef short ribs. Prime Rib a weekend feature was excellent. Choice of salad or soup came with an entree. The tortilla soup loaded with chicken could be meal in itself. Delicious…. We enjoy Bennett’s and I know you will enjoy it too.
