                                                                We had 8:00 reservations. There wasn’t a hostess for over 10 minutes. Someone had to get her. The servers were running around. Under staffed, I presume. Our waiter was nice but extremely brief and seemed pressed for time. When picking up our empty plates from the appetizer, he said our entree was arriving shortly. 40 minutes later it arrived. During that time, nobody came around to check on us… nor the tables nearby. The staff is way too few people for a full house.

                                                                Our family of four enjoyed the food at Binchotan. I ordered the fish and rice and it was the best meal I had in Hawaii. Perfect portion sizes, beautiful atmosphere and great service.

                                                                We were very excited to dine here and have a Japanese experience. The food was amazing but we were not impressed with the service & utensils. We were seated outside where we had breakfast and not in the actual restaurant. And we were given chopsticks in a paper wrapper like you get at a fast food restaurant. We were stunned. We expected to be served real chopsticks like we use at home. We also ordered the sake flight, and it was brought to us with no labels of what each one was-like I receive at the breweries back home. Will try a different Japanese restaurant next time we are on the island.

                                                                Some food items like whole fish where extremely overpriced for the small fish we got served. Sushi for $30 are very overpriced. The grilled experience skewers were reasonable.

                                                                Enjoyed the grilled meats and vegetables. They offer a single or double option and we opted for the double. Grilled meats included mahi mahi, chicken, rib eyed, jumbo prawns, mushrooms and asparagus. Good value considering a lux resort. Very tasty accompanied by 6 dipping sauce. Also got gyoza and cali rolls that were tasty but small portion. Lovely meal and beautiful ambiance. Will come again! Highly recommended. You won’t be disappointed if you enjoy grilled meats.
