About this restaurant

  • Innovative
  • Great for creative cocktails
  • Neighbourhood gem
BKK New York is a contemporary Thai restaurant in Midtown Manhattan, inspired by Bangkok Street food. BKK creatively combines the cultures and flavors of Bangkok and New York City, with fresh takes on NYC staples, like the BKK Hot Dog with Chiang-Mai pork sausage and a brisket sandwich with Thai spicy beef jus. Thai comfort food and classic dishes abound, such as Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Green Curry and Kra Pow Gai Kai Dow to name a few. Executive Chef Teerawong "Yo" Nanthavatsiri, leads the way with unique and innovative twists on Thai and New York dishes, alongside rising stars Joy Andeggplant and Prik Pimploy.

BKK's cocktail menu features a variety of playful, ingredient-forward cocktails and mocktails that also pay homage to Thai and New York items, along with Thai beer on tap, and a comprehensive wine selection. Raw and textured design elements such as neon lights, fluted glass panels and white brick walls mirror the lively atmosphere of Bangkok's street food scene.

I read other reviews and we went based on what other previous reservations said. It was all correct. This was a genuine Thai Restaurant with great service. Our waitress Sophia was very helpful in selecting our wine and entree dishes. For those that want traditional spicy or you want no spice this restaurant can accommodate your needs. I would highly recommend when you are looking for authentic Thai cuisine.

This neighborhood boasts a plethora of Thai restaurants. While we have our usual standby, for my friend's birthday dinner, we decided to venture out and try somewhere new. BKK appeared in our search, and we thought we'd give it a shot. I must say, BKK exceeded our expectations. Although I didn't mention it in the reservation, the reception immediately inquired about the birthday upon check-in. Our server was cool and promptly took our drink orders. The interior was modern, featuring banquet seating along the wall. The food was good. Our curry puffs (two) were delightfully crispy with a flavorful peanut sauce, and the pork satay (three skewers) was equally delicious. For our main courses, we shared crispy pork over bok choy, which was my personal favorite, though the noodle dish was also quite good. To our surprise, they brought out a birthday dessert (ice cream), a lovely way to conclude the meal. Overall, BKK offers excellent service with friendly servers and very good food quality. The owner even stopped by to wish my friend a happy birthday before we departed. It has definitely earned a spot on my list of go-to Thai restaurants in the neighborhood.

We decided to try BKK in the HK neighborhood tonight after hearing great things, and we were not disappointed. From the moment we walked in, we were promptly greeted and seated, with a cool vibe enhanced by lit-up street signs straight from Bangkok. Our server, Amanda, was fantastic—attentive, friendly, and spot on with helping us pick our spice levels. We kicked things off with the Payapa POK POK salad—fresh, citrusy, and the perfect level of spice to get things started. Next, we dove into the KEE MAO Brisket and the GOONG KOE RAE Shrimp with Thai red curry sauce. WOW. Each dish was unique, yet complementary—like a flavor-packed party in our mouths! The only downside? A $3 charge for a bowl of white rice. With the price of the shrimp dish, we thought it should come complimentary to help soak up that delicious sauce. But overall, we’re excited to explore more of the menu next time. Highly recommend!

Food quite different from normal Thai restaurants and we liked it very much. The short ribs im green curry was supposedly to share but little meat. The rice with mushrooms amd the two desserts were outstanding.

2nd time back and still so good. We tried the chicken satay and the wagyu rice hotpot. Both were delicious. We’re locals and will def be adding this to our rotation.
