   Fantastic new addition to Wellesley dining! Cauliflower Au Gratin and Pasta with mushrooms and truffle delicious. A perfect Vesper Martini. Attentive staff. Love the space rehabbed from a CVS.. the barrel vault ceiling gives it a modern Italian vibe. Large upbeat bar scene makes you want to come back and just hang out. Best of all.. plenty of space between tables and up tempo music so you cannot have a neighboring table eaves dropping. My one pet peeve is businesses that cram tables too close together and a party of two has no privacy. Not the case here. Thankfully they have thought of everything at Black and Blue.

   Three of the four members of our party were disappointed with our entrees: dry bone-in short rib ( how is that even possible?), tough steaks that were not cooked to desired temperature (medium instead of medium rare), cold stick french fries. The servers were amicable and attentive. We expected better quality. We would have been disappointed had this been a moderate/ family fare restaurant. It was certainly a disappointing expereeince in a restaurant that presents as "high end".

   The restaurant is very nice and big inside. Noise level is good so that you can have a conversation without yelling. Service was very good. Food was okay but should have been better. My steak arrived undercooked but they remedied it. My husband's filet Oscar was underwhelming. The hash browns were totally disappointing and should be taken off the menu. I would try it again but it was a bit expensive for what it was.

   Elegant restaurant. Sat at big spacious, comfortable booth. My filet mignon came out perfectly cooked but lukewarm. Not sure how that happens. Did they let it sit for too long? Gave my wife a bite. She confirmed it was barely lukewarm. Sent it back and I don't know what happened after that. They made me a new one, which was great, then they heated the plate to a skin scalding temperature. Was that some passive aggressive thing? Not sure. Also, this a brand new, huge restaurant with I don't know how many seats and the bathroom accommodates 1 person at a time. That's right. No separate men's room or ladies' room. Just 1 bathroom that fits 1 person, but there's a sign that tells you that you can go somewhere downstairs in the basement to find another bathroom. Who designed this place? We just ate at Ocean Prime in the Seaport and the bathrooms were designed to reflect the ambience of the overall experience. I know, why am I going on about bathrooms, but if you're designing a brand new facility, wouldn't you want the bathrooms to be a step up from the Starbucks across the street. Waiter was efficient. Everyone was nice. Dessert was a killer -- the chocolate cake. Wine was also excellent. As was wife's espresso martini. My wife's crab legs were excellent. She ordered a mushroom side dish which was underwhelming, just a bunch of diced up mushrooms dumped onto a plate with no discernible sauce or presentation. Overall, a mixed bag.

   We went for an”early” New Years Eve dinner (7ish). The food was quite good, our steaks done perfectly. The Mac and cheese was flavorful, but as it was made with orzo and the sauce thin, it was more like a risotto. The shrimp cocktail app had the typical 5 pieces, but they were huge and accompanied by an excellent sauce. The service was attentive, and almost a bit too efficient as the main coarse arrived before I was half-way through my cocktail. We were in and out in well under 2 hours for appetizers, entrees, and dessert.

   Our server was a little snippy but the food was good. We asked for our cocktails to be remade because they were wrong and we’re pretty sure, they just brought back the same ones. This was our second visit and it was much improved from the first visit which was a mess but they had just opened.
