   We had reservations and the host (probably the manager) noticed that we looked over to the bar and were watching the football game when we walked in. He asked if we wanted to be seated there and we did. Our waiter was Edward. Ask for him. He was great and helped me pick between 2 drinks and 2 different menu items. I would recommend this restaurant to others

   Last summer we had a very good meal at the Blackwall Barn & Lodge in Columbia so we went back last night to celebrate New Year's Eve. The food was good but the service was not. The restaurant was somehow unprepared to handle the diners on New Year's Eve. The staff was clearly stretched too thin and it took forever for each course to be brought out. We blame the management, not our specific waiter who apologized profusely for each delay.

   It’s a lovely spot that has an upscale but comfortable vibe. The food was delicious. My husband had the apple butternut squash soup and he can’t stop raving about it. I had the scallop and shrimp risotto and it was so light and creamy. I had an amazing dirty Tito’s martini with blue cheese stuffed olives. The service was really good even though it was New Year’s Eve. We will definitely be back.

   It was our first time at Blackwell but we will definitely be back. Jason was our server and he was courteous and very helpful. We started with French onion soup and would come back for that alone. Top 5 French onion soup I've ever had. The brussel sprout starter was just ok, has the makings of a great app, but the red onions were poorly chopped and over powered the dish. My wife had the scallop and shrimp risotto and I had the NY strip. Both were fantastic. Fantastic service and a great overall experience. We will definitely be adding this to our rotation for date nights.

   Food was good they just needed alot more help in staffing levels you could tell they are short staffed which lead to longer table response times.
