   Food is superior, I don’t mind the price for the quality. Service is fantastic, staff exceptionally pleasant and helpful. Only downside side in my opinion is the acoustics which make conversations difficult but not enough to prevent me from returning.

   Menu is smaller…but oh so good. For our main courses we had the Blue Gill Burger = spectacular and the Salmon = no words as to how perfectly cooked and paired with the risotto. Caesar salad fresh & chilled and the dressing was outstanding.

   It’s very noisy. Service was great. I didn’t like my meal (shrimp and grits) but everyone else thought theirs was excellent. The fresh vegetables were delicious.

   We really enjoyed our first visit to Blue Gill. We had an early reservation and were seated immediately in a comfortable booth. Our server, Ari, was attentive and engaging. We tried the chicken liver mousse, which was very tasty and served with just the right accoutrements. The fried oysters were also delicious. They were served with tartar sauce, so we asked for cocktail sauce and Ari brought it promptly. For our entrées, we had the burger and the shrimp and grits. The smoky pork barbecue throughout  the ground beef burger was so creative and really good. The shrimp and the cheesy grits were excellent. The sauce was a little heavy, more like a pasta tomato sauce. That could’ve just been a personal taste, though. Now for dessert. And for heaven’s sake, do not skip dessert here. We opted for the pecan fried pie and the chocolate fried pie. Both were just indescribably. delicious. The chocolate fried pie might’ve been the best thing I ever ate. We can’t wait to return to Blue Gill the next time we are in Gainesville.

   This new location for Blue Gill is a home run. Same wonderful food in a significantly upgraded atmosphere. I had the grilled salmon(awesome) and the other three, the grouper special. Some of the best seafood available in Gainesville. Don’t miss the fried chocolate pie with homemade ice cream….yum!

   Nice staff, nice atmosphere- just had a few dishes(6 people) that were subpar. Wasn’t a fan of fish dip- dry and chunks of fish that wasn’t mixed in well. Fried chicken was very dry and small portion. Grilled chicken was not grilled enough (too slimy) and all was a bit overpriced- maybe if it would have been great food prices would be more acceptable. Maybe we just got unlucky… staff was nice and helpful/courteous- no complaints there!

   My birthday dinner. I chose the chicken dish since I don't eat seafood and preferred a filet over the steak on the menu. I eat only white meat and the chef would not accommodate 2 chicken breasts over the breast, thigh and leg. So 2 outof 3 I didn't eat. My dish came 7 mins after my son and husband were served, so they didn't want to eat without me, yet I didn't want their food to get cold. The food on a whole was very good. Waitress very nice. Not the best, but not the worst, especially on my bday.

    Pretty dining room, Grace was welcoming, friendly and attentive. Our appetizers and entrees were prepared properly, seasoned well and appropriate portions. Enjoyed our cocktails and the fun movktail for our son. Thank you for an enjoyable evening!
