  • Neighbourhood gem
This waterfront locale is historically known as the launching site of our country's first submarine, the H.L. Hunley. Come early and have a cocktail at the Rooftop Bar while enjoying amazing views before dining.

Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
Boathouse at Breach Inlet offers a delightful dining experience with "excellent food" and a "beautiful view." Guests enjoy fresh seafood, friendly service, and a picturesque sunset setting. Standout dishes include scallops and oysters Rockefeller. While some note slow service during peak times, the atmosphere and "fantastic sunset views" make it a must-visit.

We celebrated my husband's birthday on Easter Sunday and our server Jocelyn was fabulous! Friendly, attentive and informed us of specials etc. Love the outside porch-perfect evening. Food was good not great. But the overall experience was great!

We have not been to the Boathouse in 15+ years but needed a last minute reservation for Easter Sunday. We should have known that there was a reason reservations were still available. The restaurant smelled like wet moldy rags are used to clean the tables. The seafood was beyond…frozen, freezer burned and inedible. How is this restaurant still in business? The prime location does not make up for the lack of renovations to the facility, the menu, the quality of food. An IOP disgrace. And I’m not exaggerating. $500 down the drain.

The staff and environment was great but the food was disappointing. Worst biscuits we have ever had, tasted like flour. Our steak and eggs were missing the crispy onions. The shrimp and grits barely had any grits, had to search for them. Went for Easter and probably won’t go back but glad we tried it.

Mahi and halibut and steak very good. my youngest says chicken fingers are very good. Gouda mac n cheese was excellent. Portion sizes were on the small side for some entrees - inconsistent. Key lime pie was excellent. Crust was amazing

Bill had six oysters for an appetizer—not thrilled by 6 of one kind instead of three/three and already shucked so not as fresh—so dinner was a wedge salad with shrimp and he loved that. I had the crab cakes with corn relish and they were excellent. And washed it all down with one of our favorite wines. One needs to ask for water with the meal. Or server was excellent with timing and making us feel we were “waited on.” Only problem is crowded tables and noise level—very crowded and terribly noisy. Definitely a tourist type restaurant. But I could get a reservation earlier that week. Plus the food has definitely has improved in consistency and quality.
