Bombay Bustle is inspired by the tiffin tin carriers, the institution of men who use Mumbai’s famed local railway to deliver home cooked meals across the city. The Maddox Street restaurant pays homage to the culture and people, whose expanse of origins from across India have influenced its culinary history.

The menu sees recreations of some of the city’s most loved dishes alongside family recipes. Seasonal delights, inspired by Mumbai and the surrounding areas, include Bambaiya Ragda topped with dry peas and honey yogurt , Pickling spice Lamb chop , Rarah Kheema Pao and a Jalebi Cheesecake with Bombay Cutting Chai .

Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
Bombay Bustle in London offers an "absolutely fantastic place" to dine, with standout Indian cuisine and attentive service. While some find it "one of the best meals" for Indian food, others appreciate its "amazing service" and "delicious food." However, be prepared for a lively atmosphere that can be quite noisy and a premium price point. Despite mixed reviews on portion sizes and spice levels, many patrons return for the "excellent" dining experience and "great ambiance."

The food was very good, however I wasn’t impressed with the service. This is was a birthday celebration and Bombay bustle did nothing to make the birthday celebration special. Most restaurants give a complimentary cake/dessert. I’m quite disappointed with the staff and didn’t find them helpful. But the food was very nice.

There was a hair in my food. The temperature of the restaurant was far too cold, and nothing was done about it despite me asking for the aircon to be lowered on three separate occasions. I won’t be returning.

The food was awful, it seemed to have been cooked previously and then nuked. The food has deteriorated significantly from my last visit 6 months ago . I have heard from friends who live in London that they have had similar experiences with poor food .

Short answer - I wouldn’t go again. Long answer - We went there for our anniversary dinner but it wasn’t something very special from a restaurant where prices are more compare to the restaurant that are Michelin. And then we ordered food, out of which Dabba dal was not fully cooked (though it’s written as Overnight cooked, but I don’t believe that as if something been cooked over night - it wouldn’t be half cooked or something you cannot eat). We reported this and they said - we can offer you some other dish but we cannot do anything about this. I expect If I am paying that much money at restaurant, the main chef can do anything within no time to show they care for customers. Also, as I mentioned its my anniversary, when I ordered the deserts, they just added the complimentary candle on top of that. I was just laughing, like you don’t have to go to Michelin restaurants to get something special on your special evening but anyways, I think that’s why Bombay Bustle is not Michelin and I did a mistake by assuming that it will be similar experience to Jamavar which is not the case. I am disappointed and not going again.

An alarm went off every few minutes and the power went out 5-6 times throughout dinner. These things happen but it was all very chaotic and the food was ok but didn’t make up for the drama. Staff didn’t know what to do either. All very average.

Sadly, I have to say I was not very impressed with my visit. We ordered everything together, ordered a mixed grill for starters to share, and we Ordered our mains, But for some reason everything was bought altogether to the table, which I was totally shocked with, I questioned it, and They didn’t really say why they bought it all together. So you are meant to have your starters first, but we ended up eating everything together because our naan bread was Given to us as well. Because we was eating everything together, I don’t think I really enjoyed my food as much either, My daughter was with me, so I didn’t really say anything and I didn’t see the point.

There was hair in chutney of trio dosa. Although you tried to placate with a complimentary dish but still the experience is disastrous. And I didn't like that your service person said that it's not hair. At least have the courtesy to accept it. Still the service was polite and we did not want to make a scene there but I am pointing out clearly here that this was not the thing we ever expected from a restaurant of this quality

Overall good experience. Good staff in the restaurant, the ones who take calls weren’t very good. But overall, it was a great experience.
