Our waitress was lovely and delivered outstanding customer service. This is the second time we have done the festive afternoon tea and it’s has been an outstanding experience every time and I would recommend it to anyone. Only quibble is a for couple of the finger sandwiches the bread was hard but everything else was delicious.

Seasonal afternoon tea. Not the best sadly. Cakes a little old tasting and scones pre loaded with jam and cream that tasted like that has been done the day before. Needed more filling in the sarnies as this was quite thin!

Festive afternoon tea for two without a festive mince pie or Christmas cake. The only festive items were two cakes with snowflake icing flags, two sausage rolls and two small crackers. The scones were sparsely pre spread with jam and cream and were dry. We expected as other restaurant cream teas scones with separate cream and jam. The two sausage rolls were however, very good. We were not asked during the tea if we required anything or to check if everything was ok and had to go to the bar to ask for another pot of tea. Disappointed.

It was one of the worst Restaurants I’ve ever experienced. No one in the restaurant when we arrived at 19:15 for or reservation- had to ask hotel front of desk staff to find someone to seat us, were told that virtually all of the “Garden” starters with the exception of a Romaine salad were not available, croquettes in the meat starter menu not available, no bread brought to table & when we asked for bread we were told that it would take 25 minutes to “bake” & that there would be a charge for it, salad was wilted and not fresh, “octopus” starter was deep fried with no trace of “octopus pieces “ and main meals seemed reheated & tasteless. Noise level was very high due to party if 8 people next to us being very loud which caused a couple in back of us to move their own meals to another table further away. We booked the Abode as a special treat for our Anniversary but the whole experience was very unpleasant and disappointing. For what we paid, it was certainly not enjoyable or value for money. We would NOT recommend Abode to any family or friends

Hi Judy, we're really sorry about the experience you had with us, but thank you for your feedback. We strive to deliver the best experience to our guests and we're disappointed we didn't meet your expectations this time. We will be looking into what took place on your visit to make sure things improve. As it was a new menu launch unfortunately some things will never be perfect straight away, but we'd love to have you back again in the future to prove we are great! Thank you

Wonderful ambiance. Food was very tasty, a tapas style. It came out as it was cooked so you were interrupted a bit, but meant that food stayed hot, it made you try different dishes as they came out you could add extra if still hungry

We we staying in the hotel with friends so we had dinner in the evening, the restaurant wasn’t busy at all and the bread we ordered to start took ages to arrive, then my friend’s chilli quid was still frozen in the middle so had to be sent back, they brought her another one which was fine. Then we had breakfast booked for the next day, when we arrived it wasn’t that busy but there were loads of tables full up with dirty plates waiting to be cleared so we were asked to wait in the lobby, ten minutes passed and we were still waiting so I asked when our table would be ready and I was told when it was ready he would come and get us! After 15 minutes we were seated, the breakfast took a while to arrive and we saw one couple walk out and say cancel our breakfast please as they had been waiting too long. My friend ordered the full English and when they brought it out she said I’m sorry we have no mushrooms or black pudding would you like any extras? The plate was half empty and this should have been told to my friend when she ordered not when it was brought to the table, so she asked for toast but by the time it arrived she had nearly eaten her breakfast. There were quite a few waiting staff I noticed at least 6 and tables were dirty, people walking out, so I’m not sure what went wrong that day! Our breakfast actually was really nice but the service is appalling and for this reason we would not return .

Hi Clare, thank you for your feedback. We're certainly disappointed that the service was not as we expect and we will be conducting further training with our staff, plus with our chefs. On occasion we can be understaffed which makes things a lot harder with a full restaurant and we hope you can appreciate this. We hope to see you again soon and sorry again for the service you received. We will do better for you next time!
