We were celebrating our anniversary and our desert was specially made with a Happy Anniversary message written in chocolate - such a nice treat. Our server Jake was great and the lovely Laura also made our experience memorable. Highly recommend!

Small dining room that is decorated as its name might suggest. It seemed noisy at first things but settled and the dining was very good. The portions are perfect and not too large. The cuisine is very good with an eye to presentation and variety. The vegan mushroom Wellington was excellent and a baked Alaska for dessert a real treat. Local wines are available by the glass or bottle. This is a place for a special meal right in the centre of the town itself

I love the new format at the Merill. Elegant yet comfortable with excellent food and service. Always so nice to see Laura who is such a gem.

Although we did enjoy our food, nothing was outstanding. (I did get a bone in my rabbit dish). The welcome was warm and inviting. The menu was small and varied. The decor was confusing, french food with odd and eclectic items adorning the walls. The music upon arrival was pop music which did change to a more traditional sound, but we did have to ask to have it turned down as it made conversation difficult. We were happy we tried it but wouldn’t return and aren’t likely to suggest it to friends. Good try but something was off.
