   A typical diner with typical diner food and seating. Food was excellent and service was quick. Nothing fancy, just good old fashioned service and food. Menu was adequate but not huge. Reservations help.

   Tony Bennett French Toast was fabulous as always! I ate some of it since I couldn’t eat much of my order. The pastrami hash was a real disappointment. Practically burnt, very tough to chew. English muffin came dry with no butter or jam. Breakfast potatoes were mediocre. For being a diner specialty it did not live up to expectations. Felt like we got the dregs. However service was great and host is always very gracious. Decorated beautifully for the holidays and had a jovial atmosphere.

   Convenient but noisy. And the whitefish bagel should’ve described itself as whitefish spread. Very pricey for a spread. Tables for 2 are tiny. Peak noise at 10 AM. Breakfast menu is not particularly broad.

   We have previously visited the diner on many times on visits to New York we had high expectations, unfortunately on this occasion we were left very disappointed. The food wasn’t great and service was just ok, which all resulted in an overpriced experience.

    We arrived on time and were seated quickly by a friendly host. However they squeezed the five of us I to one very tiny booth which was very uncomfortable. They provided a chair to sit at end of the booth which was in the middle of the walking path and was very awkward for my 16 year old daughter to sit at. The waiter was nice and friendly and service was OK That’s where it ended. The food was awful. My two daughters ordered petit filet. One ordered chicken soup, I ordered a Reuben and my husband ordered chicken and waffles. The food came out at all different times his chicken and waffles first with some very overcooked chicken and herbs on it . The girls filets came out about five minutes later and the meat which was ordered medium was rare with a red raw center and cold . The waiter kindly took it back to fix and then my food came out and the pastrami was cold and chewy. The bread was soggy, I could barely eat half of it. Finally my other daughter’s soup came out and the petite filets returned. The meat was now overcooked and drowned in BBQ sauce The girls barely had a bite. We were so fed up we asked for them to take the steaks off the bill and got the check. The waiter took the unfinished food away asked if anything was wrong and we explained it was not edible, he offered a piece of cake which we kindly declined and asked for the filets to be taken off the bill, he mumbled something and gave us the check with everything included not even a 10% discount . We paid 200$$ and my kids and I did not eat , leaving hungry. We paid and left. On the way home I got sick to my stomach and I can chalk up that we will never return there again . What a disappointment to our family trip to city for holiday fun.
