   We have enjoyed Cafe Portofino, Kauai every visit for a number of years. Not to be missed; it is excellent in every aspect. Don’t let the “Cafe” name fool you; this is a full service restaurant.

   Went Valentines Day. They couldn’t handle it. Kitchen got slammed. We ordered the special Surf and Turf. The filet mignon came out well done and we sat there for 45 minutes for dinner to come. I wasn’t about to send it back. The lobster was excellent. There was no offer of a free cup of coffee or dessert or anything. Very disappointed because it’s a very good restaurant. We are in Kauai for 6 weeks and go there at least 5-6 times. They even know us. Sad.

   Wonderful Valentine’s Day experience. My wife and I were both disappointed that the veal shipment did not come in but quickly pivoted to the same preparations we wanted, but with chicken. My wife had the chicken Marsala and I had the chicken with the porcini sauce. The sides that came with both dinners were excellent with the au gratin potatoes, carrot soufflé and fresh veggies. Both were excellent. My wife topped off dinner with a caramel custard and I had the profiteroles which was a delightful way to end our evening.

   I had swordfish in a lemon, butter, olive oil,caper preparation. The portion size was huge. The price was in keeping with the high prices of Hawaii restaurants. Lively preparation and delicious fish.

   Wonderful service and lovely ambiance. And the food was superb! When you’re in Lihue make this a must do!

   Whenever we are in Kauai, we have to go to this restaurant. The food is amazing, the service is wonderful and the view is spectacular!

    We have eaten here every time we come to the island. The food is fabulous. Unfortunately the portions were noticeably smaller this time and the profiteroles were burned. Otherwise we had a wonderful meal.
