This was a second time my booking through OpenTable was not recognized. Please coordinate well. Food itself is always good, while the service is slow.

This restaurant needs more staff servicing the tables. On the day we dined, the Manageress, after being confronted about the poor service at the door, had a heated row with the man who promptly left, saying that he would never go there again. I don't blame him!!!

Good and varied menu options (especially for kids) and portion size was good. Quality of food was fine - I had a French onion soup which was tasty and filling followed by mussels with chips. The mussels were quite bland and it was discouraging to find a strip of plastic in the sauce but I've seen worse. I haven't been to Cafe Rouge for ages but it was a welcome change to pizza and other standard High St. fare and the ambience was good and more than appropriate for families taking kids out over half term. But, the service was AWFUL. I think we may have been unlucky in choice of table or waiter because other tables were receiving food before us but our poor kids were starving and terribly thirsty by the time we were served and we ended up missing pudding because we were all out of time. Note to Cafe Rouge - better service = more drink top-ups + more courses. All in all, better than most recent experiences in Giraffe and Prezzo but probably a little behind Carluccios.

Enjoyable Valentines day meal. Good waiter, attentive until the end when he seemed to ignore us for 10 mins (waiting for the bill). Good: Was a cold wet winters day, they had EXCELLENT draft proofing. Its attention to detail like that which really stood out. How many meals have you had when it was cold when the door opens! V Good: Seemed very authentic food. Bad: Surprising number of Fly's (odd for mid-winter!). Would go back & do recommend.

Great location and view of St Paul's Cathedral straight across the street. Good selection classic French meals, cooking was done well, and value of food was acceptable. Very nice interior and courteous staff.

We had a lovely meal with friends. I had a 50% off voucher that I had been given at another cafe rouge restaurant before Christmas. French onion soup that I had was delicious followed by the tagine. A great location.

Booked table and received confirmation email but when we arrived at restaurant they did not have booking and only by luck packed us onto a table for two right opposite the door. Granted the door had a curtain to block the cold wind but with people coming and going it was very cold. The Waitress did the minimum - greeting, taking order and resolve when we complained the food had taken over 30 mins between starter and main offered little resolve. She was run ragged, obviously very frustrated which despite 'doing what paid to do' had no refinery, grace or actual willingness to do the job. The food wasn't hot either. It just seem like a car crash with all staff seemingly from being extraordinarily busy. I noticed a number of tables complaining about speed of food and service with a few actually leaving waiting for food. When paying by card the waitress asked "do you want to leave a tip" before presenting machine. I like to make the choice discreetly on machine or by leaving cash - you should not be asked as it puts you in an embarrassing situation. I have eaten here before and found it usually good in all aspects, but this time was very disappointing.

The location is excellent, we met with friends for lunch before going over to the Tate Modern. I had mussels which were fairly average, (too many unopened and very small) the waitress gave us coffees at no charge to compensate which I did not ask for and was reasonable compensation. The steak & frites were good and the light cheese, ham and wine acceptable. I use the chain frequently and will go back, it is unusual to have issues and they were addressed so I'm fine with it.

Enjoyed the visit, good ambience varied menu. There was a mix up on timings of desserts, which we had to cancel as was taking too long - but otherwise an enjoyable lunch.

Took the booking but then was closed for a networking event when I arrived with my guest for a business breakfast.
