Callie represents Chef Travis Swikard's debut solo project after spending a decade working alongside the esteemed Chef Daniel Boulud in New York City. The restaurant’s name, "Callie," comes from the Greek word "kallos," meaning "the most beautiful," and embodies its blend of Mediterranean cuisine with local ingredients and terroir, from sea to land from San Diego, Swikard's hometown. In 2022, Callie was acclaimed as one of America's top new restaurants by Esquire and Robb Report, and received both a Bib Gourmand and a Plate from the Michelin Guide. Callie is a dedicated supporter of Feeding San Diego, having contributed over 1 million meals to those in need in San Diego since its launch. Swikard is set to open his second restaurant in La Jolla in 2025.

    Our parking garage is located in the building, but because of the one way streets downtown, the entrance is on 11th Avenue between J St and Island Ave, on the right. The parking garage has a sign '1155 Parking' over top and is through LAZ. For security purposes, the gate will be down when you pull up, you will press the kiosk for a ticket. Once you've parked, take the elevators in the center up to the lobby and be sure to get your ticket validated by a host. Validation is good up to three hours.

    Mediterranean Feast - Parties of 7 & 8 For the ultimate dining experience, choose The Mediterranean Feast, a 5-course, family-style menu priced at $75 per guest. This menu, curated by Chef Travis Swikard, provides a full culinary journey from spreads to dessert. While the Feast is required for parties of 7 or 8, it is also available to all guests without advance notice. When booking, please let us know of any dietary restrictions so we can accommodate them. To secure your reservation, a credit card is needed, but no charge will apply unless you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice or do not show up. In those cases, a $10 per guest fee will be charged to the credit card on file.

    One of the best meals we’ve ever had. We can’t wait to be back. We did the Mediterranean feast, it was 5 courses. The first course was dip trip with fresh out the oven pita that I could have made a whole meal off of. The baba ganoush was incredible. My husband doesn’t usually like it but it was his favorite of the dips. The second course was a yellowtail with a mild spice level that paired well. The third course was a potato pasta? It was delicious. Sometimes the descriptions of the course were hard to hear and read off fast. The next course was a crusted halibut & then finally a lemon meringue with coconut bark. I kept thinking the portions may be too small especially since my husband can eat a lot. But we both left more than full. I did the wine pairing with the meal & there wasn’t one that I didn’t like. I struggled to keep up throughout the meal & wasn’t able to finish the last glass but thoroughly enjoyed the experience here. The service was excellent. We had Connor and Aiden but everyone was very attentive.

    Callie had delicious foods with unique perspectives forming a fascinating blend of Asian, Spanish, and Middle Eastern. Their wines were delicious and the service was excellent. Sicily, my waitress, was excellent and even stopped to ask my name at one point during the meal (if management is reading this, she deserves a raise). I highly recommend a stop here; I know I’ll be coming back next time I’m in San Diego.

    Callie was a great experience overall! We had been wanting to visit for some time and took our parents for a special night out. I gave 5 stars for everything but the quality of the food, which I gave a 4 because I feel there could be some improvement when suggesting meal pairings, portion sizes on some plates as well as doneness of the proteins. We did not find our food pairing suggestions to be a good match, where we were eating certain plates with very strong spices/ flavors that did not pair well with our other plates such as the duck and steak. The duck was also overcooked, and the steak was under being very rare instead of medium rare, so we didn't enjoy our mains as much as we would have liked. It's still a must try spot and we will be back, we we're just a little bummed on the first experience after all the hype.
