Very sexy, relaxed vibe that transports you to another place. Drinks are phenomenal and the food is explosive with flavors yet presented simply. The sea bass used in the ceviche and tostada is sublime and the chicken empanadas were very flavorful. Highly recommend!

Food needs work. Not enough meat in the barbacoa dish, mostly rice. Tamales were bland and dry. Empanadas ok. Drinks were delicious!

Cantina Rosa has a fantastic drink menu. Cocktails are refined but not overly fussy, and really highlight the specially selected spirits. We tried the Rosita, made with Gin, vermouth and banana and I enjoyed it so much that even though I wanted to try something else I had a second. We also had the paddle cactus which was nicely smoky with the mezcal and sour - which my husband enjoys and the day dreamer which was also great . We did not try the food but the other tables seemed to enjoy their upscale bar snacks and it all looked great. Service was very attentive and crowd was a nice vibe with good music.

First time going to Cantina Rosa and it was an okay experience. The drinks were okay but the guac and chips and the tamales were really good.

It’s difficult to point out what I loved more. So I’ll start with our server Greer. She knew the menu, knowledgeable of the ingredients in both the drinks and food. The drinks were well mixed so neither ingredient or Mezcal overwhelmed the drinks. The bartenders here are masters of their craft. From what I read Cantina Rosa’s focus is the variety of Tequilas and Mezcal but I have to say the food menu is just as impressive. Mind you it’s not a typical Mexican restaurant with a food menu pages long. They have about a dozen plates (Tapas Style) and we ordered 6 plates to share for 2 people. The Camarones A La Plancha were tastefully made. The spices used did not overwhelm with heat. The Barbacoa was tasty and not typically greasy. The rice tasted like my moms rice. The Ceviche was fantastic. The Tamale Oaxaqueño was perfectly made. Keep in mind in Oaxaca the Tamales are more tender than the typical Northern style Mexican Tamales which are firmer. Over all as a Mexicano I was thoroughly impressed with the Mezcal drinks we ordered and the food. Other things that stood out. The music selection was a pleasant surprise. The majority was traditional Mexican but it doesn’t overwhelm with only one genre. They covered traditional and New Mexican music but also mixed in tradicional Salsa music. While not of Mexican origin the Salsa music was much appreciated by this Salsero. This placed is not loud, you can actually hear the person across the table from you. The decore was a pleasant surprise as it’s not typical Mexican but has a modern comfortable artistic flare. Last thing to note, there’s a 90minute table time and while that’s more than enough time to order 4 drinks and 6 plates. The downside is that my girlfriend and I were loving this place so much we did not want to leave. We will definitely visit again and will bring the rest of the Latino pose 🙌#needsadancefloor for the trifecta

From the moment we entered Cantina Rosa until we left, we had the most pleasant interactions with the owner and staff. Our server Steven educated us on the craft cocktail menu and guided us through the selection of delicious drinks. Due to a seafood allergy, we were unable to try the food. We appreciated the research done by Steven to confirm that the food would not be an option for my husband. We will definitely return! The vibe was so different from most places in Hyde Park and really felt authentic to Mexican culture. It was obvious that great care was taken to elevate the experience and showed respect to the culture!

The decor was beautiful, it was very quiet inside. The server was excellent. I had the tamales which were tasty but very spicy to me because I can't eat spicy things. The chicken empanada was delicious. The guacamole was underwhelming. It looked like pureed avocado, not much flavor. The guava frozen drink was AMAZING. A must try. I wish they had a larger food menu but the waiter stared it was Moreso a tropical bar with light bites.
