At 4:45 on Sunday, Jan 5th, I made a reservation for 2 for 6pm. I then needed to cancel reservation, so I called the restaurant when they opened at 5pm, (15 minutes after placing the resy). The hostess said they would not accommodate the cancellation and would charge my card the $30 cancellation fee. So my friend and I arrived at 6pm, but based on the lack of accommodation for our request, decided to not spend money on dinner and only have 2 drinks to fulfill the $30 minimum spend. While having the very expensive drinks, the owner, Erik Williams, comes to the bar. I though that perhaps he would offer some sort of accommodation for our poor first time experience, but no, he basically gave an explanation about most patrons not understanding the restaurant business and that he bases his staffing on the number reservations so he will not accommodate a cancellation within 24 hours, basically a ‘sorry you feel this way’, apology. Understandable, but if a reservation is cancelled within 15-20 minutes, there should be some sort of grace period, before a patron is forced to pay $30. Needless to say, we quickly finished our drinks, passed on dinner, and will not be returning. Dining out is elective and should be a pleasant experience, but our first time patronizing Cantina Rosa, was less than desirable.

Great food, drinks, and ambiance, but for $17 I expect more than 3 shrimp. The Camarones a la Plancha is literally 3 grilled shrimp with the heads still attached. The $15 Tostada de Pescado had an amazing flavor, but the price is a bit much for 1 tostada. The guac was really good and so was the ceviche…I had 2 of those. I would definitely visit again.

Great drinks and atmosphere! We were surprised by how good the food was as well - highly recommend getting the guac & lamb barbacoa and for drinks, the daydreamer and manta ray were delicious. Looking forward to coming back to this spot.

This was the perfect choice for New Year’s Eve! The ambiance and service is always great here. My favorite drink is the day dreamer and the shrimp cocktail is delicious!

Overall food was great, it’s tapas style BUT not at all shareable. DO NOT GO WITH AN APPETITE AKA HUNGRY. It is a very light fare—NO ENTREES, perfect for drinks and ambience, and a good pregame place. The host station and service were very welcoming and hospitable. The server was knowledgeable of the menu. An extra Star service would be to offer some menu recommendations for a group of 5 or more. This “upscale”restaurant ambience should match with attire for the host and servers.

Very tasty drinks. Small bites to eat that complement the drinks. The food and drinks are served quickly after ordering. Nice ambiance. I will come back again in the future.

The craft cocktails were very tasty. However, I ordered the same drink twice, and the consistency was off, as if each bartender decides the recipe. The food is not there yet. I love spicy but there was no flavor in any of the dishes we ordered. And, the guacamole was soupy. I do not mind paying $20 for a craft cocktail, but the food should match the price point. I will return in a few months, and I hope the food matches the ambiance and cocktails.

Cool vibes for drinks. Guacamole is citrusy and delicious. Food selection is limited and still working on service but I expect this to improve with time.
