Casa Vega, in Sherman Oaks, opened its doors in 1956 and has been serving the people of Southern California ever since. Local residents, and even celebrities, have flocked to the family-run Mexican restaurant currently run by Christy Vega Fowler, daughter of original owner, Rafael Vega. While the decor is modern, the menu still reflects traditional Mexican menu staples. The extensive menu allows for every person to find something to enjoy. Homemade house guacamole, or one of the many soup or salad options, make for a great starter. The entree options are plentiful. Casa Vega serves everything from traditional chicken mole, a plethora of burrito options, combination plates and specialty options, such as carne chile Colorade and the signature Casa Vega molcajete. Vegan and vegetarian options are also available. Top off your meal at Casa Vega with a delicious house margarita or mojito.

Our server said about 10 words to us all meal, part of our meal was forgotten and we had to wait 15 minutes just to get our servers attention to ask for the missing plate

Very disappointed. Food was below average. No accommodation was made to minor requests. Service was inexplicably slow and waiters were impatient. Price was not warranted for the kind of food and service.

Casa Vega was a little disappointing. We’ve been fans for a very long time. So, naturally we have a lot to compare it all to. My spouse ordered the carne asada dinner plate. The meat was hard, bland and it lacked quality. The snowball margarita, I returned. The flour tortillas that came with both meals were cold, sent back, and originally they had forgotten one order. Our server was overly assertive, short, cut and dry. He seemed to be “over it.” We arrived for dinner at 9PM; he must of been tired and it showed. He was kinda blah. I still tipped him and regretted it later. Once I paid the tab and tipped him cash he was gone, done, outta there, disappeared. This is the first time ever, since we started coming to Casa Vega, because Kris Jenner recommended it, that we were disappointed. Luckily, for me first impressions are the ones that matter the most and the very first impression of Casa. Vega was a good one. We will be back, not anytime soon. But definitely someday; we don’t t live around the corner. Happy holidays everyone 💫

Accidentally booked reservation for four at 8:00 instead of for five at 7:00. Went in with my work team and they made accommodations and set us down within 10 minutes. Very satisfied always.

Food and drinks were really good. Server was great for the first half of our meal and then just completely forgot about us. It was dead so it wasn’t like he was super busy but he just stopped coming. Didn’t bring our second round of drinks for about 20 minutes after we ordered them. Took a while to bring our check. Disappointing way to end an otherwise good lunch.

We had a reservation for 7:30 and by 8:30, we were asked to leave our table for a larger party that was coming in (also was a Monday night, restaurant was not busy). We basically had to chug our drinks and a different server than the one we had all night checked us out because they couldn’t manage their tables properly. We were also there for a birthday and watched multiple other tables her birthday shoutouts but I guess in their haste to make us leave, they forgot to do that. Totally unprofessional and unacceptable

Be aware of where they seat you. I made a reservation for a family holiday dinner for 9. We were seated in a very loud bar area table. The barstools were arm length from my chair where I sat with my grandchild. The man there was saying f*%# every few words. His date was dancing in shorts next to my side. Be sure to specify the setting required. Food was out in minutes, check quick too. Nice server, decent food. Much smaller portions than most Mexican restaurants which I liked, those that eat more will need to order appetizers and salad or soups.

3 of us went in for a late lunch and the hostess made us sit at a tiny half table and told us she was saving the bigger booths for parties of 4 - the entire section sat empty the whole time we ate. I’ve also heard from many sources that the food has gone downhill lately and I can confirm that it’s true. It’s not nearly as good as it used to be and it’s ridiculously expensive. A mediocre meal for 2 adults and a child for $89 with no alcohol is just ridiculous. I want to keep supporting this landmark I’ve been going to for 20 years but if things don’t change I won’t be back.
