The room and server were pleasant but for a six top reservation. There family style was not enough food for six people to taste each item and the same for the Caprese salad. They sent out enough for five people, which was one tomato and one slice of cheese each. We did complain about that one and they brought out one more tray. The server said that the one tray was usually for a two top. The other food served were good except the lamb which was overcooked and without flavor. One was returned and replaced with the fish dish was which was not much better and I know desserts are personal preference, but they ran out of ice cream and some people are gluten-free.

I recently visited Castillo Craft Bar + Kitchen with my family… it was 8 of us… We supposedly were going to get a Festive Christmas Dinner as it was announced on their ads. We reserved for Christmas Day but unfortunately, the experience did not meet at all expectations. For the high price point, $95 per person +tax + minimum 20 % gratuity. the portions were shockingly small (will add some pictures) leaving us disappointed at every course. The appetizers were extremely limited, offering barely enough for 4/5 people and we were 8. (Same size plate was served for a table of 2) The second course—a Caprese salad—was an even bigger letdown. Just 6 of us barely got a single tomato, which felt more like a garnish than an actual dish. I needed to ask our waitress if we were missing an extra tray and his answer was no … so I needed to ask if they could bring more so my sons could get something. Usually when you are a large group and the table is big like ours they put 2 different trays so everybody can serve themselves. Our table was located inside a separate kind of private room that was also being used as storage for tables and chairs… No salt & pepper, no bread offered at all, we had to ask for water several times as nobody seemed to be interested on taking care of us… The entrees were average at best—nothing memorable or worth the cost. To make matters worse, the dessert took an unreasonably long time to arrive, extending an already lackluster meal. Overall, the experience was extremely overpriced and underwhelming. I wouldn’t return or recommend this experience to others.

We booked in advance for Christmas Day, at that time the menu was still “coming soon”. If the menu had been available prior to booking I would not have booked. In my opinion the food was not worth the $$. The only appetizer wasn’t what I was expecting, Brussels, cured salmon, pimento cheese, and picked tomatoes. The salad was tasty. The main course options were fairly standard, hubby had the stuffed flounder and I tried the turkey cobbler. It was more like a pot pie type but with a drop biscuit on top instead of crust. It was okay at best, the fish was good. There were 3 options for dessert, gingerbread Yule log, bread pudding, and a cheesecake. The bread pudding tasted good but would have been better warm. I did not care for the gingerbread. If I could have cheesecake I would have opted for that. I think I would be willing to try their standard menu but not sure I would no another pre fix event.

We apologize on any confusion regarding the menus, as they have been posted on our website since we opened the booking process but clearly failed to communicate that. We appreciate your feedback on the menu items and will utilize it to continue to grow our team and the offerings that we provide. Basic buffet, happy you were open for the holiday, expected a more festive atmosphere & larger buffet. Ie. Cook to order eggs or just omelet station or brunch items…smething fancy for being a Renaissance Hotel.

Christmas breakfast in the ballroom, cost $30 pp for a very basic buffet, scrambled eggs, and a few sides. Service was good, we were promptly seated at check in and closing our tab was also quick. Food was fine but not special. Ambiance was minimal Christmas decorations, nothing like the outdoor decorations which are stunning. Next time we would go to a local restaurant that did not take reservations and just patiently wait in line.

Christmas breakfast buffet was extremely underwhelming. What one usually receives for free at various Marriott hotels for breakfast, we were charged $30 each. We have no issues spending that price for a good breakfast. But we were served powdered eggs, cold pancakes and oatmeal that had the consistency of cement. A big disappointment and waste of money.

The buffet was stated as $15 a piece and nothing on OpenTable ever mentioned that this is just a deposit. So I bought 2 for $30 and added a $8 dollar tip which said is for the waiter. I get there and finish eating and then a bill comes for $45 dollars more. The waiter told me the $30 was just the deposit but he wasn't sure if he gets the tip or not. Which is sad because he should. Honestly the breakfast is only worth maybe $20 a piece tops. It was more continental. Nothing fresh made so it was irritating paying almost $80 dollars for 2 people to eat breakfast. I left feeling like I wasted so much money. There was oj, coffee, tea, oatmeal, silver dollar basic pancakes, eggs, Bacon, potatoes( these were really good), fruit, Danish, and toast/bagel. That's it! So sad I could have just ate at my hotel. Not their fault but I don't eat eggs or bacon so really left feeling sad I wasted my money and so wish I could have a refund and wish I would've chose somewhere else.
