Excellent coffee and the food was great as well. Had the avocado toast and a flat white. My companion had the Greek yogurt and granola. All was good and service was fast and friendly.

Being Australian you have certain expectations about a cafe called Chapel street, therefore we were excited to see a Melbourne style cafe in our city.Having to make reservations made it seem like it would be worth the visit. On arrival I did notice a small flag, framed poster and an assortment of my favorite mags. These were the only origin queues. Their menu did show a few signs of this, Avo toast and baked beans and our 1st coffees were very good. The service was poor and we had to call our server a few times for flatware and condiments. All the staff are American even the front desk. My scrambled eggs were coated in steak style brown sauce which was unexpected and not pleasant. My husband enjoyed a zucchini fritter special. We were offered cold sausage roll and donut segments to sample. Our second coffees were terrible and way too strong. The ambience of chapel street where in house roasting is a central pillar where missing, with the roaster hidden behind the semi open kitchen area. As this venue serves as a hotel breakfast lobby area the vibe was more Hilton than anything else…

My friends and I came for the Monday night trivia at Chapel Street and had so much fun! The food was so good and our server was amazing! We also met the general manager who was warm and welcoming! The trivia was so much fun (despite us doing so bad) and we will absolutely be coming back!

Our third visit, first experience. Computers were down first time. Second time pastries only and very kind amd generous. We missed breakfast today arriving at 12: 30. Pastries exceptional, sandwiches looked and tasted great, no open seats. Make a reservation. No Marinara which limited the menu. JUSTIN AND THE STAFF SUPERB. Working on tea, today, too. Otherwise great.

My daughter and I had dinner at Chapel Street Cafe last nite and loved it. John, our waiter was a lot of fun, very knowledgeable and attentive. We had Chicago Restaurant week menu including the wine pairing- great choices! The whittlesea delish! The Carleton- Devine! St Kilda -exceeded our expectations, Lord Dudley - so big I took some home! Pannecotta - better and lighter than expected! All and all, a wonderful neighborhood gem. Worth the trip, even if you’re not from the neighborhood!! Come for a delicious Aussie treat, any time of day.

Our reservations were for 11:30 a.m. We were told that the Restaurant Week meals would not be served until 12:30. We rebooked our reservation and came back. We ordered and waited about 45 minutes for our meals to arrive. The wait staff was wonderful! The delay in being served was not their fault but a major problem with the managing of the kitchen staff. My meal was good but my friend did not enjoy hers. She ordered the pork butt sandwich. At least our bill was adjusted for the long wait time. We did notice other patrons being served quickly with one of the first course menu items that was on the Restaurant Week menu! If the same menu item was on both menus, why didn't we receive ours sooner? Our first visit to this restaurant was a disaster and we will not be returning.
