   Booked chateau-X as I've been here a few times before and absolutley loved it. Last night was a huge dissapointment for what was meant to be a great evening. We were seated and not informed of what was sold out, so when it came to ordering, 2 of the items we wanted to order we couldn't. Starters arrived and churros were drenched in oil, the arancini whilst tasty, was cold. Asked to order some wine for the main courses and decided to upgrade to the bottle. Having tried to make contact with the waitress who we originally spoke to and failing as she walked past us whilst we spoke to her, we had to grab the host/manager. The bartender had to come over and explain to the wait team what we were requesting, as apparently it had caused some confusion. Wine came over and the bartender made us feel at ease with a pull back of service standards, actually asking how our evening was and what we were up to. That was the only good service we recieved. Main courses came and the cuts were inconsistent with the cooking temp as my partner had one slice well done and one pink. The food was OK, but lacked a lot of flavour. We didn't eat much of the vegetables, and when the bartender came back to clear our food, pointed out we hadn't eaten it. My sister informed him it didn't taste of anything and the bartender said yeah kale isn't very tasty. My sister informed him she does actually like kale, but the flavour wasn't there. Rather than address we were clearly trying to give feedback on the food, he cleared away our mains without listening to our complaints. We were then asked for desserts to which I asked for a cocktail I had before, but apparently only basic cocktails are on the menu now. We were then left for almost an hour with no check back. And to add insult to injury, the waitress dropped our bill at our table with no words, no warmth, and attitude of get out. Filling water bottles was apparently more important than checking back on paying guests.

   Lovely complementary glasses of prosecco for our anniversary when we arrived. Sunday roast was so good! All made even better by the great service of Ross, polite, chatty and very good at his job, thanks!

   Fantastic food and service. Would have been 5/5, however found it very cheeky that on the small print of vouchers bought directly with them, they had excluded specific dates. £100 we had pre-paid but could not use on the day.

   I like this restaurant but was left a little disappointed this time. We weren't notified that it was a set menu on any of our booking notifications and it wasn't on the website. When one of our party took ill and couldn't make it, rather than being charged the £15 reservation fee for them as we expected and were happy to pay, we we forced to take a meal for two - for one person which seemed a bit unreasonable. We did question this and were told there was nothing they could do, that was the menu. I would be interested to know how they managed the other reservations that were uneven numbers that day when their set menu was tailored to meals for two ONLY. It was bizarre being asked to take and pay for a meal for a person that wasn't attending. The steak was a little undercooked, but we didn't feed this back at the time, we just made do. The side dishes were amazing as always.

   Second time visiting, first visit was excellent, this time not so much, maybe as it was Valentine's weekend? Food was lukewarm, restaurant was freezing cold and I was served a gin and tonic with no tonic?? Chateaubriand was really good, only thing I'd come back for. Shame.

   Food was delicious. Beef cooked to perfection. Meal was reasonably priced but £15.50 for one glass of wine was a bit of a shock! However I would definitely return for food. Service/staff were fantastic. Food arrived quickly too.

   It was overall great and had lovely food. But we where around 15 minutes early and we’re told that there was no seats at the bar so we were to go to the bar across the road (that I don’t think has anything to do with them) however we were turned away at the door due to a ticket event (which is not there fault the bars fault). But it did leave us wondering around. However the table we where sat at has no one sat in it when we first turned up. But overall I would be back for the food

    Had looked forward to our steak dinner before our concert. Staff were lovely and friendly. We asked for a medium/well done steak and a well done steak for my daughter, the steaks arrived and the well done steak was red in the middle, we asked for it to be cooked more but it came back almost the same. My daughter has anxiety and didn’t want to cause a fuss so she didn’t eat her steak and we paid and left. Feel that we should have been offered some discount on the bill as the steak was not what we asked for but I couldn’t make a complaint at the time as my daughter just wanted out of the restaurant. We ended up in McDonald’s.
