   Cheeky's is an excellent quaint restaurant that serves the best fish and chips! Their Lavender lemonade is addictive!! The service is always superb and friendly!

   This was a fun experience for a brit who has lived in Indiana for 35 years. The dishes reminded me of British food from the 60s, but better prepared. (English food became much more flavorful and varied from the "continental influence" after the UK joined the EEC in the early 70s). The sausage roll and scotch egg that we shared with our 2 friends as an intro were very good. The steak and Guinness pie was outstanding, overflowing with high quality beef and made with perfect shortcrust pastry. The gravy was a bit too thick and American, but the pie stood on its own. My husband had the Full Monty English breakfast which had all the right elements, including back bacon and he thinks they were Heinz beans (which would have been essential for me, but he is from Singapore, so what does he know). The fried bread looked more like toast so I tried it and found it did not have the oily crispness that English fried bread should have. It was not unpleasant and the eater loved it. One of our US friends had the fish sandwich, which must have been good, as it disappeared in short order. I would love to see more use of seasonal vegetables in addition to the ubiquitous peas and mushy version of. By the time we finished our main courses, the sticky toffee pudding had run out, which was just as well because we were already very full, and gives us the perfect reason to return. Everyone else in the place with us (full on a Wednesday night, so you must book) was having a good time and the decor is fitting and fun.

   Hailey made us feel welcome, and she was attentive to all our needs. The tea was hot, and the scones were perfect. We’ll be back soon!

    I have never had a Traditional English Breakfast before my lunch here this afternoon, and it was worth the 41 yr wait. The ambience was traditional while still roomy, the food was delicious, the service was phenomenally personable without seeming gimmicky. If you’re looking for traditional English fare in Indianapolis or surrounding suburbs, I would highly recommend trying Cheeky Bastards! Don’t forget to make a reservation, as it fills up quickly!
