They didn’t have our booking. They were very nice but brought us the wrong order which meant we had to wait far longer than we should have. Then they brought us another duplicate dish from our order after we’d finished. So service was shambolic. Food was nice but I can see why they were nearly empty. Wouldn’t recommend.

Mixed feelings about the place. Lovely atmosphere and interior design. Staff didn't have our booking and seemed quite put out to have to find a table for it. It was a Saturday night but the venue was half empty (and remained so throughout the night). We were told to wait at the bar which is clearly never served, and we were eventually offered drinks by a surprised and unsure member of staff (clearly not used to drinks being ordered from the bar). We did get a table and had over all good service from then on. Starters were exceptionally good, mains were a little disappointing. It was unclear the steaks came with no accompaniments bar the onion which was a little disappointing. Desert and wine were both lovely and in fairness we didn't feel pressured to leave after 2 hours which happens in other establishments

Our table was not reserved so we had to wait for our table to be made up. Due to another function ongoing elsewhere in the premises we had a long wait for our main course, approx 1 hour and 15 mins after starter. By this time our wine had been consumed. Staff did apologise for delay and gave us free appetiser before our starter. The food was excellent. It'll be a long time before considering going back.

After looking at many reviews on TripAdvisor I booked dinner at Chez Mal even though we were staying at Dakota. On arrival our reservation couldn't be found but luckily there were spare tables. On ordering drinks I had to settle for a third choice as there were issues with gas for draught and stock issues with bottled beer. Food ordering, my first choice was also not available?????? Eventually our food arrived and the waiter served the plates with the distain and ignorance which further aggrovated the situation . The final straw came as my Wifes pasta was undercooked. We asked to speak to the Manager who professionally handled the situation and gave us a full refund to compensate for a very disappointing evening. We returned to the Dakota who saved the last night of our holiday. With excellent food, service and going the extra mile.

The service is quite mad. We were served by at least three different people and the waiter(s) got several of our orders wrong. Which is a shame because the food is nice.

Perfect service. Great food. Wonderful people. Meticulous presentation. They awed me with how they executed my special request. Will recommend and will be back even if it’s for a burger as I’m sure they will turn it into a piece of art. The lamb shank and the chicken were both out of this world—both very tender, juicy, and just to-die-for. After having my favorite restaurants all in North America for a decade and a half, now this restaurant in the City of Love has me won over.
